Can I use my chocobo in combat?

After reaching level 30 and completing the quest My Feisty Little Chocobo, you can prime your chocobo for battle.

When your chocobo is combat-ready, they can be summoned to the fray by using a gysahl green. This chocobo favorite can be purchased from merchants in various locations, and allows your chocobo to accompany you into battle for thirty minutes at a time.

* If your chocobo is defeated in combat, it will be dismissed and must be summoned with another gysahl green.

Chocobos will also gain Companion EXP for fighting alongside you. As they continue to gain EXP and increase in rank, they will earn skill points which can be used to acquire chocobo-specific actions and traits.

By default, chocobos will fight in free stance, but you can command your chocobo to use a different one to suit the situation. They can assume a tank role with the Defender Stance, a DPS role with the Attacker Stance, or a healer role with the Healer Stance.

After unlocking the ability to use your chocobo in combat, you will also gain access to the chocobo saddle for additional inventory space.
