Frequently Asked Questions / Saving and Importing Backups
To back up sound, UI, input, shared macros, and other local system settings, select the gear icon button in the top right of the Character Selection screen. This will open the Client Settings Backup window, from which you may select Upload to proceed with the backup.
Saving a backup of client settings to the server allows you to easily carry over your preferences to a different play environment. Saved settings can be imported by selecting Download from the Client Settings Backup window.

Settings Eligible for Backup
The following client settings are eligible for backup:
・Display Settings
・Sound Settings
・Input Device Settings
・Theme Settings
・Miscellaneous Data (Movie and Cutscene Settings, etc.)
・Accessibility Settings
・Shared Macros
* Character configuration and individual macros are saved by backing up Character Settings.
Saving Backups via the Launcher
The game launcher can be used to back up and import settings into both the Windows® and Mac versions. Click the Config button located in the top right of the launcher window and use the Backup Tool to export settings to your computer or external storage device.
To restore previous settings, click Restore and select the folder containing the backup file named FFXIVconfig.fea.
* Backups saved using the game launcher in the Windows® and Mac versions cannot be transferred to the PS5™/PS4™/Xbox Series X|S versions. To do so, please use the server backup function.
