Here is what happened for me.

I sat at the Diamond in the Rough spot for about 1 hour before I decided to look further. Found the posts here and so I talked to the Flame Scout by the bridge and did Run Like a Flame fate twice. This did not spawn Diamond in the Rough at any point.

I looked deeper at the posts here and saw mention of a Lalafel, the Flame Scout at the bridge is not a Lalafel. Saw mention of second pair of coordinates which is definitely not by the bridge but is instead under the area where Diamond in the Rough is.

I kinda clicked on me that there must be two Flame Scouts. So I went back to the game, saw the Flame Scout by the bridge spawn and waited for them to despawn. Sometime later, the Lalafel Flame Scout spawn, which is upon talking to directly triggered Diamond in the Rough.

Thus I finally got my Mark. This was what seemed to work for me, no guarantees.

The flame scout that spawns for the "Run Like a Flame" FATE is located right at the end of the bridge in Southern Thanalan, around X:17.5, Y: 18. Once you start escorting him, be ready when you get close to the end. The Diamond in the Rough FATE spawned (X: 18, Y: 24.5) before I was even done with the escort and someone else that was waiting on it started it a few seconds before I was able to get there. It is a pain, and it took me over an hour of waiting for "Run Like a Flame", but that is the correct order. Do the "Run Like a Flame" escort FATE and the Diamond in the Rough FATE will show up.

The 'Diamondjaw' enemy is from the 'Diamond in the rough' lv48 FATE.

1) Go to Southern Thanalan - X17 Y24.

2) Wait for a Lalafell 'Flame Scout' to appear at that coordinate. On the map it will be a small purple FATE symbol with no blue radius.

3) Talk the the Flame Scout. Just Southeast on the mountain the big fella will appear.

(These FATE locked dailly hunts are a pain, glad they were removed after ARR).

I ran around this place doing all the FATEs to attempt to get this to spawn. It seems random but the Flame Scout, a Lalafel, that is around 17, 24 is the one who spawns the one for Gah.

I did the Fate, that other posts mentioned will spawn it, near the bridge with the other Scout but even after waiting, about ten minutes-multiple times, it never made the Lala spawn. So I just flew around and did some quests that I had missed. This fate doesn't seem to be tied to any other fate.

There is two Flame Scouts who starts F.A.T.E - you need speak with lalafel Flame Scout. He spawns only on X17,Y17 - after you find him and do small talk, automatically "Diamond in the rough" pops on X17.5,Y24.5

I did the FATE from the Flame Scout twice, but the Diamond in the Rough FATE never spawned.

Would recommend skipping if you don't see the FATE.

Ignore the last comment, you don't need to do any other FATE to get the Flame guy to spawn. He'll just pop up randomly as the one FATE you have to talk to in order to start it—talk to him, do the fate, ezpz.

so in order spawn the Diamondjaw. you need to complete two fates without the game telling you the first fate is a Flame Scout that is named run like flame. it's coordinates are (17.7 Y, 18.0 Z) upon completion, you will need to wait a few minutes for the second fate Diamond in the rough to spawn. It's coordinates are (17.2 Y, 23.7Z) it's upon the diamond in the rough the ul'dah target will spawn. you need to be quick cause unlike most fates in the area. they despawn in 2 minutes if you're not quick. the scout happens to spawn randomly at parts of the day however the flame soldier will always be in the same spot after completion of Run like Flame Fate. I hope this will prove benefaction to those seeking this bounty. Keep it up Warriors of Light/Darkness.

F.A.T.E. - Diamond in the Rough (18, 24).

Okay for this fate I've waited today over an hour and a half and yesterday couple of hours.
I couldn't find the NPC "Flame Private" (17,24) which triggers the fate.
I would say I am quiet patient...and I understand you want to keep the players online even if it means you let them wait....but for so long and you don't even know what you did wrong there?!

How do you get it to spawn. ????
