caught all 6 immediately at the eblan thaw just west of camp broken glass between 7 and 8pm et. nothing special used, just the leech and hope.

I caught all six between midnight and 2 AM Eorzea time, using the leeches from the junkmonger in Camp Broken Glass. Just run to the little pond directly west of the aetheryte, just outside the sanctuary.

Bait: Leech *I bought 50 & didn't use them all.*
Buy Leech bait location: At junkmonger when you arrive at aetheryte in Garlemald.
Time/Weather: didn't seem to matter
Must activate ability: Collector's Glove
Garlean Clam = ! >>>>and a couple of undesirables
Do: smash "Identical Cast" AND then "Prize Catch" whenever you get a clam, Even if it's 183 or lower just press "No" to turn it into something you can sell to get a little Gil back if you choose to.
Keep 184 rank & up clams.

Sounds like time doesn't matter, it was Nighttime (9pm in-game) for me, lightning storm.
Used Leeches
(!) 11-15secs (no chum)

Side note, Animulus is also a (!) and is 10secs. Easy to mistake it for a clam. Found it best to Patience II and only using Precision Hookset on (!) (to save GP). Any (!!) I just used hook to clear it away ASAP (you'll lose those fish, but that's ok). Once you pull a clam, use Identical Cast to grab a 2nd one. Pop Hi-Cordial after every Patience II and Thaliak's Favor as needed.

Neko Yanagi Hyperion [Primal]

Had zero luck catching any at night. As Roumont noted, likely only available after 6am, despite the fishing log indicating no time restriction.

Go with Nai's advice and go to the pond near the aetheryte. All 6 clams were above 184.

Vanna Myrkvidr Jenova [Aether]

I had better luck at the fishing hole by the aetheryte, where the quest sends you.

Stainless Course 29,6: 2 clams (1 above 184), 2 Eblan trout, 1 dark crown, 3 imperial placo, 4 bluetail. So, out of 12 casts, got 2 clams, 1 with enough collectability for optimal XP/scrip rewards.

Fishing hole by the aetheryte: 6 clams (5 above 184), 3 Eblan trout, 1 icepike, 1 animulus. So, out of 11 casts, got 6 clams, 5 with enough collectibility for optimal XP/scrip rewards.

Level-80 scrip gear, Patience, leeches as bait, level 85 fisher, and as much RNG as everyone else. : )

Nai Nomura Faerie [Aether]

didnt have any issues catching clams from the fishing hole. used leech bait and collectors glove only.

Demon Lore Lamia [Primal]

Personal strat (probably works in other spots):
- Go to The Stainless Course (NE of Garlemald);
- Activate "Collect" buff;
- Carry some Hi-Cordials;
- Use a nice food and a "Revised Engineering Manual" for bonus;
- Use at least full blue scrip lv 80 gear;
- Always use "Prize Catch" and "Thaliak's Favor";
- Use "Chum" sometimes to speed-up;
- Versatile lure is enough.

With this you will powerlvl yourself and always catch giga clams/fishes. After some minutes you will get your 6 big Garlean Clams for max rewards plus tons of exp. If you just want to catch 6 fast use "Identical Cast" after getting any clam (collect will be random).

Can confirm, Stainless Course gave me way more clams than the hole near the Aetheryte. Highly recommended.

Question'mark Tail Gilgamesh [Aether]

Everyone says Canals are the best bet, so that's where I went. The fishing hole is called "Stainless Course" and is at the north border of Garlemald. Save your GP; try to have 550 for catching clams so you can use Identical Cast, followed by Prize Catch, then throw your line out again if you get a clam. Happy fishing!
