Raised in a cave, lined with rubies, sapphires, diamonds and gold, isolated high in the mountains, Serah never knew of her birth parents, or her royal heritage only of the old woman who found and raised her and the locket left around her neck. Born with magical gifts and taught by a witch, Serah’s power grew even more, all the while the old woman knew, one day, Serah would leave to find her birth parents. When she was older Serah was looking at the locket left as a baby and notice within the locket there was a tiny gem. When Serah touched the gem she fainted....

Waking up, she was floating in front of a giant crystal, and it spoke: "My child fear not my presence and listen to my voice." Serah was not frightened but felt comforted by the woman's voice. "My how your powers have grown, it is time for you to venture from your seclusion, for the world is in need of you, the relms are in danger and the fate of everyone lies with you and the ones you will meet. Now go dear child of light and save us from the darkness." Serah awoke in the cave, clutching the locket around her neck, she knew what she must do. The next night, in secret, Serah left the cave of gems and gold... Kissing the old woman's forehead good-bye, she whispered "I must go mother and save us from the darkness... your love and kindness have protected me now it is my turn to protect you." With tears in her eyes and hope in her heart, Serah's journey began...
