The name Dragan is a traditional masculine Slavic name with a surprisingly gentle and affectionate meaning. Dragan means "dear", "one who's dear", "beloved", "one who loves", or "one who's precious."
The Origin of the Name Dragan: Slavic (widely used in Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, and other Balkan countries)
Pronunciation: DRAH-gahn or DRAG-an
Etymology: It is derived from the Old Slavic root element drogŭ or drag, which translates directly to cherished or loved.
Because of its spelling, people often mistakenly associate it with mythical, fire-breathing dragons. However, despite the spelling coincidence, its actual roots are entirely tied to terms of endearment.
The Origin of the Name Tarak: Sanskrit origin and translates to both "star" and "protector."
The Star Meaning: It derives from the Sanskrit root taraka, meaning a celestial body or a guiding star that illuminates the path.
The Protector Meaning: It also means one who saves, guides, or protects others through difficult times.
Pronunciation: Tar-ak or Tar-rik
*Having spoken with someone who's hobby is the study of languages: putting Dragan and Tarak together would be the English equivalent of "He who protects the ones he cares & loves and who also protects a star (ie. star protector).*
As such and from a role play point of view: those meanings are even easier to "act out" as this character's story will incorporate some elements from a couple different franchises outside of FFXIV. Those elements mainly revolve around speech, mannerisms, emotions, logic, and curiosity. Also, the given nature of Aether allows for another element to be incorporated as a source of strength, cunning, sight, and other abilities.
