Chapter 2“Named after a man-eating creature from ancient Padjali folklore, the Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak was built on the site of a natural cave system beneath Silent Arbor. Until recently, it held all of Gridania's foulest criminals, from arsonists to poachers, but the completion of a new gaol closer to the city heralded its abandonment. ” Ariele reads aloud while sitted comfortably on the moonlit flower bed.
Who would have thought.. She smiled & continued while closing the book on her lap. She looks up & Standing before her in the distance was
her mother Kahlan fighting a losing battle with Toto-Rak himself & an Inn razed to the ground..
Got everything you need? Kahlan said as she pours herself a cup of tea. Yup! Ariele replied happily as it was the first time in a while since they went on a trip together.
Welcome to to the mythical forest of Gridana. Kahlan said to Ariele with a wide smile on her face
as the Aether dissipates behind them. Ariele jumped with joy as Kahlan pets her on the head to calm her down & then stopped abruptly.
"I'm sorry, this was supposed to be a strictly non-work related trip." Kahlan said after a few moments of silence with a serious look in her eyes & stared into the distance. "I understand." Ariele quickly replied as she too notices the disturbance of the aether in the air south of Gridania.
Hanen.. The Innkeeper said as he draws his last breath while pointing towards the Inn. He's gone. Ariele said as she recalled her healing magick on
what seems to be half of what's left of a man. Hiding behind some bushes they laid their eyes on the legendary Toto-Rak circling around an unconscious Mi'kitty boy. The vicious SS Ranked monster that was only made to kill was showing signs of fear & is contemplating about what would happen if he had killed the boy.
Kahlan drew her heavy blade & rushed out in front of the boy to draw the monster's attention as Ariele drags Hanen away from the fray of the battle. The monster groaned as it notices that his prey was getting away & swings one of its many tails at Ariele. The girl, a talented white mage of her age swiftly casted a stone wall shield as she braces for a knock back
closing her eyes shut while holding tightly on to Hanen, they both knocked on to a tree with minimal injuries as a journal fell out of Hanen's hands & landed on a nearby flowerbed. Why was he holding on to this book so dearly Ariele wondered as she crawls her way to the flowerbed to find out.

Meanwhile, Kahlan was fighting the dreaded Toto-Rak all by herself! Her swings were slow as the blade was heavy, it seemed like a losing battle.
But with each swing she grew faster as she swiftly dismantled parts of her heavy blade and planting them on the ground at strategic locations as she weaves around the monster with much dexterity slowly revealing a staff hidden in the blade. She smiled confidently while putting on the wizard's hat that was hung on her back and did a magestic twirl.
"Twilight's Field"She whispered with a cunning smile hiding beneath the hat.
Ariele planted her own staff down to complete the Hexagon her mother had set up,
a beam of purple light struck down upon Toto-Rak & he was no more.
