Aug/Sep 2022 update + I have new DNC weapons

I would like to write a blog post before the next week rolls around and I'm up to my neck in work.

A lot of things have happened recently for me both in-game and in real life but mostly in game. I haven't felt a need to concentrate on one specific event or story in particular, instead opting to make a recap of them in this August / September 2022 update blog. It's been quite a while since I made one of these blogs. With that said I've progressed quite a bit with Elril, both with regards to leveling and just in general in game, i.e. unlocked more and more content, did more of the stories and whatnot.

1. I've gotten MNK and WHM lvl 90

And now I'm working towards getting Dark Knight, Scholar and Summoner to 90. Currently they are all over level 80, with DRK lagging again behind, just like it did when it was in the 60-70 lvl bracket alongside WHM and MNK. I consider myself a pretty decent tank and I have leveled 3 of them over lvl 80, but something about DRK just rubs me the wrong way and I just have a vague idea as to what bothers me about it i.e. it feels unbelievably slow compared to WAR and GNB. Not necessarily in terms of the global cooldown, but rather the animations bother me and the fact that it's wielding a giant ass sword. I will never not complain about how fucking impractical a sword like that is.
So... MNK and WHM. After the previous jobs I had leveled to 90, these were the most obvious picks for me, WHM because I really started enjoying playing WHM after 60, though I am abysmal healing with it, to the point that I forget I even have lilies to use up :/ I'm a bit better with MNK to be honest, most of the time I find myself 2nd or 3rd on an 8 man aggro list because of just how hectic it is. Some people I know, don't like MNK because of that, I however love it and I don't feel pressured to stick to the same rotation like some other jobs i can name *coughReapercough*.

It's been a joy leveling up MNK and WHM and I hope I will manage to derive at least a measure of fun from the other jobs that remain to level. I'm enjoying SCH the most, but I also have my more disliked ones like DRG or NIN to still get to lvl 50 as they are the ones that are lagging behind thus far.

2. I finished the EW Role Quests for Healer and Melee DPS

With my newly leveled WHM and MNK, respectively, no less. I did this because both SGE and RPR felt unbelievably out of place for both of those role quests and I needed replacements to shoulder the quests. You may think I'm putting too much thought into what jobs I do WHAT quests as. But the fact of the matter is, some quests just don't feel good unless I do them with the most appropriate job possible.

Here's what I unlocked and with what jobs:
RDM - My first run of the MSQ - ARR to EW 6.1, Coils of Bahamut (ARR), Crystal Tower (ARR), Alexander (HW), The Warring Triad (HW) Pandemonium (EW), EW Alliance Raid (EW)
GNB - Nier Raids (SHB), The Four Lords (SB), Bozja (SHB)
MCH - New MSQ main 6.2 and beyond (EW), Eden (SHB)
BLM - Ivalice Raids (SB)
WAR - The Shadows of Mhach (HW)
SGE - The Sorrows of Werlyt (SHB), Omega (SB - not started yet, planning to sometime in the next few days)
WHM - NG+ runs of ARR, post-ARR, Coils of Bahamut and Crystal Tower

I just can't do an unlock unless the job I'm playing as fits the vibe of the story and seeing how grounded both the Healer and Melee DPS EW role quests are, I figured that SGE and RPR would be both terrible fits for the unlocks. That's why I avoided continuing on with the EW Healer Role quest as SGE. SGE would fit more technology based stories like the Sorrows of Werlyt or the Omega Raids.

3. In finished the DRK lvl 80 quest and the Sorrows of Werlyt

First off, I don't need to reiterate what I said about the Dark Knight 30-50 and 60-70 questlines, you'll find my opinions for both of those questlines in my blogs list. That said, as a what-if scenario, seeing Elril outside of my own headcannon, the lvl 80 quest for DRK contained a truly lovely cutscene which I made a recording of not a few hours ago.

Second, I finished The Sorrows of Werlyt this afternoon. I did so at the behest of one of my close friends and FC mates who's been pestering me to unlock them, and he finally managed to convince me to do them because he told me that there was an orchestrion roll as a reward for one of my favorite EW songs. Came for the roll, stayed for the feels.
I won't go into detail about the story. Truth be told, I actually considered putting a spoiler section in this blog but thought against it as any condensed analysis of the story will not do justice to how beautiful this story is. So I will soon make an analysis blog about the Sorrows of Werlyt.

4. I got invited to no less than 3 weddings this month!

I understand love is in the air, but seriously 3 in a month! I had fun at the first one I went to, hell, I even made a drawing of Elril alongside the character of my FC friend who I asked to accompany me :) But I'm not sure I can make it to the rest, I have a very full week coming up, so I will probably be cutting down on gametime to do my work.

5. New Relics and Dancer shenanigans

I have recently finished my THIRD Heavensward Relic Weapon - for WHM this time - and am thinking of maybe starting a new one - once I figure out which I should work towards next, that is. Until then, I've started work on my ARR Scholar relic weapon (yes, Scholar, because it's the better looking ones) as well as my GNB relic weapon from SHB. With the arrival of the new Manderville Relic Weapons I think I'm gonna work towards the Red Mage one and work on Dancer EW Relic (the normal grind).

Speaking of Dancer, I have new Dancer Weapons for Elril! And they are pretty!

I changed specialisations just so I can be able to make these weapons. And I don't wanna do them just for myself either. I've already given a pair of butterfly chakrams to the FC friend I mentioned earlier who was my partner at the wedding I went to a week ago, and a rapier to another friend of mine. They both were so happy when they received their respective weapons, it made my heart swell :D.

Aside from the new weapons, I got 3 commends in a recent run of the 6.2 dungeon, as I managed to keep myself and my co-dps alive after the newbie healer, who's never done the dungeon before died halfway through the last boss fight.... as a DANCER! Yes, I kept healing people with my Dancer utility spells! It also really helped that the tank was a Warrior so there's also that.

6. I was present for my FC's 1 year anniversary and it was so fun :D

It's been more than a month and a half since I joined the Warriors of Light and I already feel like I am home. I had a lot of fun with all the events I've participated in and I hope the ones to come will be just as fun.

Oh and I am also now part of a static that does weekly EW normal raid clears for tokens, so I can gear up my alts.
Gearing up alt jobs has been a pain in the ass for me in 6.1, but now that I am part of this static, I don't think I'll have to wait for the patch to be at its end to have decent gear for my jobs. I'm currently sitting on RDM (and casters) @ ilvl 612, Tanks @ ilvl 602, Healers @ ilvl 605-608, DNC and MCH @ ilvl 601 and then there's MNK and RPR who are still in their 580s but oh well. Can't direct my focus to all of them.

In the following days I will make a review for the Sorrows of Werlyt, just need to get my thoughts together.
