I have a new catboy alt!

However, this one I would consider a permanent alt, one that I wouldn't dare delete as I have with a lot of my previous alts, even Elril Amrath, the character I based my current Elril Moonweaver on. Why? Because sunk cost fallacy has already kicked in with this new alt, as I've bought a Stormblood story skip for it.

THE CONTEXT
I've talked in my previous blog about my not being very enthusiastic regarding the continuation of the story past Shadowbringers and it's true. I am not looking forward to advancing the MSQ on Elril, because 1. I have not a lot to expect or anticipate and I find the premise rather dull, to be frank 2. I don't believe that a story that is built atop previous existing stories can ever be as good as one that is great standing on its own merit, with starting points in previous expansions.
As such I've had this idea in my mind that I want to redo the story of Shadowbringers and to do that I need to go through all the pieces that lead up to it, namely The Crystal Tower storyline, the post-HW patches and patches 4.4 to 4.55 of Stormblood which comprise the Shadowbringers build up. But I believe this is a very VERY time consuming undertaking. Doing so on Elril would probably be rewarding from personal story perspective, but he would most likely gain nothing from redoing it, except maybe some wasted time that could have been better spent leveling an alt job.

And YES! It is the same catboy I made an entire blog about 2 months ago. Currently his previous owner, E, decided that she would prefer to play as a cute little Lalafell instead of keeping Eden as her Warrior of Light. That made me very sad, because now Eden is no one's Warrior of Light and he does deserve to be someone's Warrior of Light. So instead of forcing him onto E, who truly does miss him, but still is very fond of her little Lalafell, I decided to make him my own and because I am dead set to see the Shadowbringers story from his perspective, I bought a story skip for him and skipped past ARR, HW and Stormblood. Blasphemous, I know, but... HE'S AN ALT! It's not as if I didn't spend 3 months reading the entire story of all these 3 parts I skipped (with ARR and HW I've done so twice).
So this story skip was done at the cost of money and personal story for Eden, but I've saved myself so much time, I've saved probably... weeks of gametime by doing this. I can probably rectify that part about damaging his personal story by taking the time to watch the ARR and HW and maybe the Stormblood cutscenes from the Unending Journey. That means around 2-3 days doing nothing but watchin cutscenes... woopy...
My main focus now with Eden, however, is to get 1 job to level 70, so I can then go on and get Sage and do the Shadobringer MSQ with that job. Sage is the only other job I can see both Elril and Eden doing the MSQ as, the others being Red Mage for Elril and Black Mage for Eden. I'm not entirely sure about going Warrior with Eden, I've never tried doing the entire MSQ on a tank class. I've seen snippets of this while I was sinking some of the MSQ experience into my Gunbreaker, back around MSQ level 74-75. Then again Gunbreaker would look unbelievably awesome on Eden. Hmmm. I dunno, I still need to think on it.

I may take an extended break from doing activities on Elril (probably only keeping up with my Dwarven Beast Tribe dailies, because I really REALLY want that Lali-hop dance) and spending a lot of time on Eden in the following weeks. I just hope this does not have the effect of overriding my attachment to Elril.
I love both Elril and Eden so much, they are both made by me and they are the most beautiful characters I've ever created and I don't want to have to choose one over the other.

Now going back to Elril, I haven't really done a whole lot on him recently. After I finished gearing up my Dark Knight (he now looks like Robo-cop, bleh! the Ironworks tanking set is such bulky armor) I decided to level and gear up my White Mage.
And may I just say how much I've spoiled it. Yes, I do believe there is such a thing as spoiling one of your jobs in particular. In the past I considered Samurai to be my most spoiled job, as I got a lot of cool katanas for it to wear from the ARR trials, but now I do believe that my White Mage has surpassed my Samurai in how many cool things I have for it, even though it's a job that I don't see myself playing all that much. Sure, it FITS Elril surprisingly well, but I don't particularly like the job, it's rather boring in how straightforward it is.
And what do I mean by spoiling my White Mage? Well, for one I got a very pretty glamor for it, which I went and used MOST of my Pure White dyes on. And I also got it the White Larnel bird mount which looks great for it.

I will probably not get to enjoy Elril being a White Mage or leveling up some of my other jobs, because I will be focusing on getting Eden on his feet.
My sister said that Eden is very bare-bones at the moment, when it comes to his progression. He has only BLM at lvl 31 and Warrior at level.... 8? I believe. I have a long way to go till I get him to level 70 :/ And dungeon spamming is probably the most efficient way to go. I might have to ask my sister to come help me out with the leveling because doing dungeons all by myself is so mind numbingly boring. ;(

That's all I have to say for now. I really hope I don't come to regret this decision moving forward, I'm still at odds with what I just did for Eden and wondering if it was all worth it.

I might steal your idea and try it out some time soon! :3 Also your white mage glam for Elril is awesome. I never thought of using the pure white dye on ironworks, it's super pretty! @Bayo. If I don't set goals for myself then I get burned out of the game, like I feel like I'm doing now with Elril and that's never fun. I have currently no other plans aside from getting the Lali-Hop dance on him and that grind only requires me to log in every day for a few minutes to do 3 quests and then log back out.
It's a sad state of affairs, but I have all the leveling and gear I want for the jobs I like so... maybe it IS time to take a small break from him, just to get Eden on his feet.
@Misaki. Of course he is :D He was made by me after all and if there's one constant about me is that I always make gorgeous characters, anything sub par never even gets out of the draft phase of the character creation screen.
I'm glad I could be of service with some ideas for your future adventures. Though to be fair, I am doing this because I just don't want to enter continue with Endwalker on Elril. I know I should, but I would rather postpone it until such a time when I put Eden on track.
