Pleasant surprise when I finally got these jobs. They both level together at the same time. Which is really good since scholar kills things really slowly. Bad thing is they share the same bonus stat. And with scholar being a healer class, I'm gonna have to play knowing that I'm not healing as good as a white mage/conjurer would, since they would have their bonus into mind. But honestly, the stats don't seem to add much at all. It's all about the weapons. Those are the biggest upgrades. I'm most likely wrong, but it definitely feels like 1 mind only adds 1hp to your heal. Or 1 int adds 1damage to your spell.
Did my first dungeon as a scholar just a little while ago. It was really nice. The fairy really keeps things relaxed. At first I didn't know when it did its heals, since I usually keep people topped up most of the time. They seem to bust out a heal when someone gets to around 75% hp. Which means I can slack off a bit in the dungeons. Maybe stare at the walls, or admire the floors, or look up peoples skirts. I played with Selene, the support fairy, for the spell speed buff.. that I didn't really use all that much.. I was the only caster there after all. Next one I'm gonna try with Eos.
The last boss was pretty exciting to me, mostly because the tank and a dps got disconnected during it. I had to heal myself, while turning off the lanterns, while tanking the boss. The other guy died, but I resurrected him, which I didn't know I could do. Since you can't use raise in combat, I assumed resurrection was the same. But we continued the fight, I was tanking and healing. It was really fun, since I was close to death so many times. It got really bad when all the adds came out. That's the kinda play I love, when you're pushed to the limit, and you try to do the impossible. We were so close too, it looked like she was down to the last few %. Then I died, then he died. Oh well. Next attempt went much smoother with a full group.
Ifrit-egi is kind of a disappointment. He doesn`t really grab aggro, he only attacks one monster at a time. He`s definitely going to be benched, at least when I`m soloing. Topaz carbuncle is just to good at that department. He could probably tank dungeons too, if only SE would let us queue as tanks. But you`d definitely have to micro manage him if you wanted to do it properly, which most people wouldn`t do.

that is kinda good about ifrit-egi though you want him to be applying his damage but you don't want him to be doing it so much that he steals hate from the tank...unless I read your post wrong

Congratulations! I've made an arcanist and I'm quite pleased so far...Though unsure which has better spell effects, thurmautage or arcanist. I want awesome explosions XD
oh very nice, congratz! I'm going for summoner and scholar as well, almost there but they're having maintenance again >.<
but is the ifrit-egi really that bad? I know the Topaz is a super pet to summon for tanking, but I was hoping the egi would be better than that, at least, that's what you would expect

ifrit is more of a dd summon than a tank atleast from what i understand but you have 3 so one isnt supposed to be superior to the others just in a respective field each will have their uses
I got used to putting up all my spells then switching, or grabbing stuff, and ifrit-egi didn't really work out for questing and such. He's probably good in dungeons, but there's like no indicator in game. I know on normal monsters I feel that he doesn't do a noticeable of damage over topaz. But topaz cleaves things left and right. If you're doing a fate with lots of passive monsters, it's best to put him away. I was doing Haukke Manor btw
