🌱Why do we have to “love ourselves first before we can love others?”

💖Because our hearts are the containers
and the love we give to others… flows from this container
If the container is full → we give with satisfaction
If the container is empty → we give with fear, lack, and expectation

When people don't love themselves enough
They expect others to fill the gaps in their hearts
But when we love ourselves enough
we love by sharing, not by begging for love

💖Because if we don't know how to love ourselves,
we'll let people who treat us badly into our lives
Or behave badly towards other people
Or worse, we'll think that's love

If we love ourselves,
we'll choose only people who love us and treat us well,
just as we love and treat ourselves well, or even better

Because self-love means “knowing your own worth”

💖Because if we don't love ourselves enough,
we love by “wanting,” not by “giving”
People who don't love themselves enough often…
Need validation from their loved ones
Need constant attention
Fear of abandonment, controlling them
Giving ourselves completely to keep them from leaving

None of this is love

It's "fear disguised as love"

True love is freedom
But love from fear is bondage

💖Because self-love creates "boundaries."
If we don't love ourselves, we won't have boundaries.
For example,
allowing people to repeatedly hurt us,
allowing people to be irresponsible,
allowing people to use us,
enduring a loveless relationship,
or lowering ourselves to be with them.

But those who love themselves will be clear...

This is the beauty of mature love

💖Because you can't give what you never have
If you've never been kind to yourself,
can you truly be kind to others?
If you've never forgiven yourself,
can you forgive others easily?
If you've never loved yourself,
how can you love others?

A healthy relationship isn't like...
"I'm lacking, please fill me up"

or
"You're lacking, I'll fix your life"

But it's...
