Hi guys,

Did you try the new trial from Monster Hunter - The Great Hunt - Rathalos? I will tell you some tips to clear Rathalos Ex.


1. Party: go with 3 tanks and 1 healer. My PLD ilv was 350, WHM was i361 and still be fine, as long as you don't get hit, you will be fine.



2. Strategy:

_ If you die, just re-spawn to continue the fight, no need to Raise. But 3 times your party KO, you lose.

_For tank marker, both before Garula and after Garula phase, go out, buff up defense and drink Mega-potion alone, don't stack.

_ For healer marker: after Garula phase, 2 tanks must stack to reduce damage.

_ For Sheep phase: if you have a marker, drop fire ball to the adds -> deal damage to enemies too.
And just ONLY kill the Couerl and dont touch other adds unless they attack healer/dps. Just let Rathalos kill them on his way and the adds naturally attack Rathalos,

_ For healer, stay near him enough to dodge to dive, but stand far enough to dodge the swing and fire. Also you can heal tanks and need to Esuna asap the debuffs.

_ Healer should focus on healing himself first since tank can survive 3-4 hits, healer can die with 2 hits. You can use Regen on tanks or let them heal themselves if they're PLD.

_ For tanks, stay behind him to attack (since Rathalos will run wild all the time, no need to keep arggo), dodge when he does tail swing and full swing and stand aside if he dives

_For rider at Garula phase, when Garula appears, stand in front of Rathalos, change to Tank Stance and jump on the pole. After that, smashing A button like mad until the times end or they finished killing Garula. Should be a tank riding it so less healing for healer.

_After killing Garula, hide behind his corpse, the rider turned back to dps Stance, then move away since he will charge you right away in next phase.



3. Remember all Rathalos' movements so you can dodge him.

***Before Garula phase:

_ Head bend + fire in mouth: Fire ball in front or Fire breathe -> stay away from his front

_ Head bend + tail bend: Tail swing or full swing (2 times continuously) -> just stay away from him at that time.

_ Spread wings + scream: Short dive or Long dive: just right at the moment he dives, you click on Rathalos and only need to avoid touching his Target Circle under his feet (in the 3rd photo above), no need to be scared or run around.

_ Spread wings + head up + scream: AOE to all.

***After Garula phase: Rathalos will fly on sky, and he only deal 2 skills: dive and fire.
_ Fire breath + Fire ball: just stand behind him most of time, he wont do tail swing.
_ Dive: since you stand near him and behind him, when he dives, you can just avoid touching his Circle Target easily.

Deal enough dps to 100% to bring him down, then full attack his Tail. If you success, his HP will be reduced to 35%.

After that, just repeat the phase, bring him down and attack until he dies.

[Note]
_ LB is not needed, lol.
_ After Garula phase, use Mega-potion wisely.
_ 3 times KO and you lost
_ Remember to get 4 scales at tail and 1 Scale + at head of Garula when you defeat him.
_ For phase 3, after you bring him down to shatter the Tail, his HP goes down to 35%. If not enough DPS and run out of time, he will enrage. Wipe at 1%-9% is normal.
_ If you're lucky, you can have a chance to have a chest which contains items. I only got the song and Poggy minion tho. Only saw the Rathalos mount once, but didnt get it.


Well, it takes me nearly 20 times to try since I didnt play Monster Hunter, dont know the mechs, but thanks to my fc member Pickle's tips and Lyn Frost - who cleared it 5 times before, I cleared that Rathalos.

Remember, avoiding the hits are more important than just yolo run at him. Watch the boss' movements carefully.
