It took me 2 real life hours of fishing to get one, while hating my life and will to try to do fishing even tho I don't like it at all...

I was doing that having double the amount of stats that fish require and level 70. I got 32 Silver Sharks instead and 4 Pirate's Banes.

This fish makes me don't want to fish again.

This seems like a perfect time to get one.

Just circle Patience and Makeshift bait till you catch one. I went thru almost 100 lugworm, caught a handful or Pirate's Bane.

Caught at 11:34AM (Trying between 9AM-3PM) from Western Thanalan ( 8.7 , 6.5 ).

Patience II > Merlthor Goby (Precision Hook) > Wahoo (Powerful Hookset) > Titanic Sawfish (Powerful Hookset).

I hooked 6 Pirate's Bane before catching and did not receive the "Something large has risen from the depths to feed!" message.

Overall it may not be worth the 3+ hours trying to catch it when you can purchase it off the market board. Not sure if you're required to actually catch it for the quest or not.

Used the makeshift bait ability + mooch and that's it.

Sanya Esperacchius Gilgamesh [Aether]

I don't understand why they have made this fish so difficult to catch. I have tried multiple times now and cannot catch it. I get silver sharks and multiple Pirate's Banes, you know, the rarer version of the sawfish, but never the titanic sawfish. Either the time period to catch it runs out, the weather changes and comboing Fish Eyes and Patience or another ability leaves me not enough time to catch it before FE runs out or I just get more sharks and Pirate's Banes. I'm a high enough level it's not my gathering either. This fish sucks.

Got this rascal with my last lugworm bait (20 baits/attempts)
Got it right after "Fisher's Intuition" buff is turned on. So you need to thin the fish populations (I suppose it's Wahoos)

Fayt Akagi Faerie [Aether]

Time: ET (Eorzia Time) 2:40pm.
Location: Western Thanalan, Camp Westwind (10.2x, 6.7y).
Weather: Clear Skies (Fair Skies also work).
Bait: Lugworm.
Gathering stats: Gathering 367, Perception 244.
Food bonus: Perception +6%, GP +8%.
Abilities: Mooch 1 (x2 in a row), Makeshift Bait (think it's not necessary).

How to caught it:
Warning: Patience 1 cancels current mooching opportunity.
The main thing is proceed a Mooch Chain: Merlthor Goby → Wahoo. I didn't even use Patience 1, but I activated Makeshift Bait just in case. You need to be patient for large fishes.

Don't give up, i got it on my 4th Mooch-chain try. Good luck!

So, is this no longer required to be caught for a fishing quest? I mean if not thank god, but I swear I had to catch this when I leveled fisher, and I no longer see it as a requirement in the fishing quest lists.

FINALLY! Cape Westwind, 10am ET, LV 59 Fishing. Gathering 247; Perception 168. Used Patience, and it was used up by the time I caught the HQ Goby, so it was pure luck I caught the HQ Wahoo. You're looking for 3 exclamation points for the Titanic Sawfish - only 2 means it's a shark.

Location: Camp Westwind
Time: 11:50 ET
Bait: Lugworm, double HQ Mooch.
Abilities: Precision 1.
Gathering: 226
Perception: 171

Note: If you try fishing with this same method around 00:00 to 03:00 ET you'll run into the Bane which has a much higher gathering requirement. You only need decent level 45+ gear to attempt the Titanic Sawfish successfully and it seems to show between 11:00 and 15:00 ET using the above mentioned method.

Caught at 9:37am w/ 275 gathering/198 perception/item level 41/ fishing 57/ using Patience I. For the person that got the message that your gathering wasnt high enough, that was the Bane your were trying to catch, not the titanic sawfish

Savage Legacy Diabolos [Crystal]

Finally caught this sucker yesterday. 11:07am game time. Lugworm> HQ Goby> HQ Wahoo> Titanic Sawfish. Gathering is 324ish before food buff. Clear Skies & used the Patience and corresponding hooking ability.

Baron Castle Goblin [Crystal]

Use Lugworms to catch it. Requires a high Gathering rate. Be sure you're capturing it between 9AM to 2PM. Mooch a Goby then a Wahoo. If you mooch a Wahoo five times however you'll be attempting to catch the Pirate's Bane. If you're catching it mainly for the quest: The Beast of Brewer's Beacon then catching Pirate's Bane is not sufficient enough. Keep in mind Wahoo's also attract Silver Sharks. GOOD FISHING!
