Joe's Guild Wars 2 Stream-olas, 9/17 - 9/18

Public
Thursday

Super early Guild Wars 2 stream today (2:30pm-ish instead of the usual 3:30-4pm). I got woke up by riding lawn mowers and weed whackers just outside my apartment. And since I couldn't get back to sleep, might as well get a stream going.

And the stream was all revenant, my new class, running events and working on map completion in Queensdale (Human starting zone). Decent class, has probably the fastest movement speed buff in the game, but only lasts 20 seconds (on a 10ish second recharge). It also has a heal spec aka the "Centaur stance" (specifically a healing stance, one of 5 stances a revenant has, of which 2 can be equipped at a time and be switched out at any time outside of combat), which works almost exactly like the monk class in World of Warcraft, with a moveable healing totem and healing orbs that drop on the ground that anyone can step over. So, I ended up spending the rest of my session trying to craft healing gear for him, so he'll be all set for next session.

Which brings me to another thing I like about this game: Your abilites/passives that affect "nearby allies", of which there are a lot of them, affect any player that's near you, ie. they don't have to be party members in order to be affected. Unlike FF XIV and WoW (I think), where a good chunk of them require you to be in a group. Makes open-world stuff much less fun (not to mention harder, since healing/buffing in gw2 doesn't require you to target players).

And here's the records I played today:

The Golden Era of Dixieland Jazz, 1887 - 1937
Billy Joel - Piano Man
Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac
Rickie Lee Jones - Rickie Lee Jones
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle

Friday

Had to work late, so I didn't have any time to level my GNB this morning. So I'll probably do it sometime over the weekend.

Had to call in from work tonight. Ripped my upper back - specifically the left, and to a lesser extent, the right, rhomboid muscles - and got a big bulge on the ball of my left foot from . . . . . somewhere. No way I'm gonna try to work like that.

So, I tried to spend more time on this evening's Guild Wars 2 session, but I ended up dozing off after about 4 hours in, so I ended up shutting down anyway. *sigh*

But as for the actual session it was all revenant again, running with my healing build, at least for a while (the Centaur - aka healing - stance doesn't have the movement speed buff, so I have to constantly switch between that and the Assassin stance, a dual-wield DPS stance, which does have it). Otherwise, I was just focusing on map completion this time around, which I eventually pulled off:

After that was done, I started focusing on the level 10-20 storyline quests, and gonna keep working on those next time I play. Map completion, then story quests in that area, rinse & repeat. :)>

Really liking revenant this game right now. It's one of few games that, if you were to ask me "What's your favorite class?" or "What do enjoy doing in-game?", I'd say "Whatever it is I'm playing/doing right now." Not many games I can think of where I'd say that. Most other games I have a favorite, and then I'm just marking time on other stuff.

Buuuut anyway, here's the records I spun this session:

Frank Zappa - Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch
Motorhead - Overkill
Devo - Oh No! It's Devo!
The Stooges - Funhouse
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew

Okay, callin' it a night now. <Take care.>, and <Thank you.> for reading/watching. And have a good night/day, everyone. ;)>
