Joe's Wonderbar Weekend, 3/16/2020

Public
Saturday

Played my usual Grimmy Dawn today. Real good time. One of my new regulars, APTLTUDE, asked how much I like this game. I proceeded to give him information overload lol.

But otherwise, it was a good session today. I did my usual Crucible runs (a mini-game where you have to defeat as many waves of enemies as possible) on my Mr. Reaper guy (part FF XIV ninja and part dark knight), and actually pushed myself a little bit, and tried to beat wave 50 - I usually stop at wave 40 - which I successfully pulled off, although this is probably as far as I'm going to go at this point, after watching my health yo-yo up and down. YAAAAAAA!

And then, I just focused on running bounties (Grim Dawn's version of hunts), trying to get my faction reps up, and then just called it good and started on this blog post.

And here's the LP records I played today:

Billy Joel - Piano Man
Buddy Rich - Big Band (sides 3 & 4 only, since sides 1 & 2 were missing when I bought this)
Waylon Jennings - 'Ol Waylon
Paul Simon - Graceland

Sunday

For my Grim Dawn stream today I ran the usual Crucible on my reaper guy. And this was also one of the rare times that I had to use a program called "GD Stash", which is an item/character editor, in order to cheat in an item that I accidentally destroyed. Not something I'd want to make liberal use of, but it's great for correcting big mistakes.

And after that, I decided to go ahead and play my dervish some (FF XIV ninja + fire acid/poison-wielding paladin = dervish), running him around and trying to level/gear him up a bit.

And here's the records I played this evening:

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
Redd Foxx - At Home
Humble Pie - Self-Titled Debut
Bill Cosby - Why is There Air?

Monday

This morning I watched a video about upper chest exercises that I found kinda cool. So I went ahead and tried a few of them out, but ended up hurting my left side and various parts of my shoulders, resulting in getting only a few hours of sleep. <Oops!>

Buuut anyway, for my FF XIV session today I continued to work on my bard, doing my usual hunts and Pixie beast tribe quests. I also did a leveling roulette and got Shisui of the Violet Tides, with another big fast-pulling fanboy tank (he wasn't even waiting for everyone to show up just before a boss, he just rushes right on in and pulls him -_-).

This one seemed to think that just running past them is enough like, no AoE or anything (I knew this was what he was doing since my mere DoTs alone was enough to pull aggro off of him). This would eventually lead to a wipe or two, especially when the healer gets killed. Considering how prevalent
mass-pulling is, they should teach it in the Hall of the Novice, because apparently they aren't learning by watching other tanks do it :/>. If you're gonna mass-pull, you should at least do it right.

But eventually after all that my bard achieved the big 8-0!

So now I spent most of my time crafting level 70 gear for my red mage, the class I'm taking to 80 next. And he's now fully outfitted and ready to go until level 72. And I finished off the session by practicing a bit on a training dummy, trying to get my red mageing chops back.

And for the vinyl 33s I played this evening they were:

Led Zeppelin - Physical Grafitti
Frank Zappa - We're Only in it for the Money
Vangelis - Spiral
Rush - Caress of Steel

Okay, calling it a night. <Thank you.> and <Take care.>, everyone. ;)>

Joe, I'm surprised you just don't use the old tomestones to buy 70 gear from Rhelgars reach since it is really cheap now. Surely you max them out easily from roulettes.

Forgot all about them! Can't remember the last time I used them. Here, let me look into it....

<Logs into game and checks out Enna's shop>

Ahhhhhhhhhh! Heeeeere's why I haven't used them: For a full set, according to my calculations, I'd need a grand total of 2750 of these things. That's an AWFUL lot of roulette running (I think they only give 50-100 or so).

Not to mention, I think I'd probably level up to cap before I'd even get the required T-stones I'd need, since I run hunts, FATEs, and beast tribe quests as well, and only do leveling & trial roulettes (and once in a great while, the 50/60/70 ones). I found it faster to just craft the not-as-good HQ gear than to subject myself to the roulette grind, especially with the Teamcraft website.

lol, yes, if you buy everything, but you don't have to silly. ;p

The old stones, you get 500, yes, 500 per msq roulette. and I think 300 for a alliance roulette but don't quote me on that. It is at least 200 though, more if new people are doing it too.

I cap the poetics at 2000 soooooo fast, I am constantly spending them on ore and seeds just to keep the cap down. You do those roulettes it goes up way faster then you think.
