    A community to play together with friends on the same World.

    Free companies are player-run organizations which allow their members to pool resources, be it items or gil, to accomplish feats that would be difficult or impossible for a single individual.
    The benefits of joining a free company include a dedicated chat channel for all members, the ability to purchase an estate to serve as the group's base of operations, and the use of free company actions that grant bonuses such as increased experience points.
    No two free companies share the same goals and motivations, so be sure to choose the free company that's right for you.

  • About Linkshells and Cross-world Linkshells

    A dedicated chat channel for players who share a common aim.

    Linkshells and cross-world linkshells are chat groups which allow for quick and easy communication between players who are not necessarily in a party or free company. Unlike free companies, players are able to join multiple linkshells, making it possible to join different communities dedicated to various aspects of the game.

    Linkshells: allow communication with any players on the same World.
    Cross-world Linkshells: allow communication with any players on the same data center.
  • About PvP Teams

    A team dedicated to enjoying PvP duties.

    Teamwork is key, so be sure to find a team with whom you're confident you can hone your skills together.

    PvP duties: allow players to compete against one another in unique instanced arenas.

The Free Inquiry Cross-World Linkshell is a roleplay community built around shared storytelling, curiosity, and character-driven play across Crystal.

This space exists to connect roleplayers who enjoy thoughtful, collaborative RP — from quiet social scenes and character interactions to investigative arcs, mysteries, and slow-burn narrative threads. Whether your character is a scholar, adventurer, mercenary, academic dropout, or someone who simply keeps asking the wrong questions, there’s room for you here.

The Inquiry favors opt-in RP and flexible engagement. You don’t need to be present for everything, and you don’t need a sprawling backstory to participate. Come for a single scene, a recurring character arc, or just to meet other writers and see what develops organically.

This CWLS is:
• Cross-world and FC-agnostic
• RP-focused but not rigidly in-character
• Welcoming to new, returning, and veteran roleplayers
• A place to share scenes, ideas, and ongoing threads
• LGBTQ+ friendly and committed to respectful play

Hi! I’m M’aki Itoh, founder and organizer of the Free Inquiry on Brynhildr.

I’m a longtime FFXIV player who loves character-driven storytelling, collaborative RP, and building spaces where people actually feel welcome. I run the Free Inquiry as more than just an RP project — it’s meant to be a home: a place to learn the game, ask questions, run content together, tell good stories, and unwind after a long day.

RP is optional here, curiosity is not. Whether you’re brand new, returning after a break, or a veteran looking for a healthier RP culture, you’re welcome. I care a lot about community tone, inclusivity, and making sure people feel safe and supported.

The Free Inquiry is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly and built on mutual respect. If you’re looking for a chill, active community with room for creativity, conversation, and camaraderie — I’d love to have you.
