Little into the adventure

Ok so figuring out the basics of MMO combat see if I get this right:
Tank- lead pace of battle and distract enemies
Healer- primarily Keep eye on tank and AOE heal as many dps as possible (keep eyes on party members)
DPS- effect largest possible damage to group or single enemy and manipulate battlefield

Got DPS and Healer down fairly well trying to figure out strong method to Tanking

Also no idea about disciples of hand/land yet really must catch up!

You're on the right track! :)

Tank is your punching bag.
DPS pick off the stuff punching your punching bag.
And healers speak for themselves. They make sure your punching bag has all the grit and girth they need to keep on taking those hits.

Not all players will establish the tank as the party's lead, so it usually comes down to who knows the maps well enough. Though, when in doubt, the tank is generally the one least likely to die by surprise attack.
