Day 4 - Business as Usual

Public
I wake up early at the Stonethrow tent encampment and decide to make my way back to the rail yard. Had Papashan not reminded me of Gramps so much I probably wouldn't of returned after dealing with what I had to yesterday. With that said, I hope Papashan has normal work for me this time. I could do without another adventure for a bit.

When I arrive, its business as usual, as though nothing happened the day before. Sadly, he does not have work for me. I decide to look around, since a rail yard, even if its not busy should have something for me to do.

As I excepted I soon find work. Cicidoa, a Lalafell who works at the railyard offered me a deliver request. He wanted me to pick up a pumpkin from the Royal Plantation nearby and then to deliver it to Roger at his establishment, "Coffer & Coffin". I don't particular like the sound of that name when thinking back on yesterday encounter. Hopefully this job will be as uneventful as it sounds.

Once at the plantation I quickly find Gagari the person Cicidoa told me to retrieve the pumpkin from. When I greet them they began to tell the grandness of the pumpkin I will be receiving and importance of its freshness. I happy listen to them as it reminds me of back home. They had me the grand pumpkin they told stories about, but before I depart I speak with another the Lalafell farmers, Hihiyaja who offers me a pest extermination job.

I happily accept the job, but before I get to work I need to deliver the pumpkin, or as Gagari told me in so many words the sooner it is used the better it will taste.

I then began to make my way to Coffer & Coffin. The road consisted mostly of a dirt pathway set between a few mountains. Along the way there's a bridge that crosses over a small stream that runs between the mountains filled with Orobon, grey catfish like monsters with maws full of jabbed teeth.

In the distance I can see Coffer & Coffin, a dusty grey wooden building that looks like an old saloon. Past that is a large aetheryte housed in the center what appears to be an outpost. As I got closer to the outpost and my destination giant ant like monsters began to become more and more common on hill and cliff sides lining the road.

I soon reach my destination and head inside. The inside of Coffer and Coffin looks like a saloon Gramps would probably spend too much money in. Its tables are full with adventures, Brass Blades, and some merchants. The owner of the establishment and recipient of the pumpkin, Roger sits behind the bar selling drinks or cooking up orders.

When I first speak with Roger he offers me a drink, but when he sees the pumpkin he happily accepts it as he tells me the story of why Cicidoa wanted me to deliver the pumpkin. Once his story was done he treated me to a meal, which I happily accepted.

I wasn't able to fully enough it though as my meal was interrupted by Qiqirn, rat like beastmen, that were attacking the Coffer & Coffin. With the help of some adventures we quickly dispatched the smaller ones. Yes, their were giant rats. Eventually we managed to fight off the raid as the rats dispersed. Lets their isn't anymore surprises today.

I returned to Coffer and spoke with Rodger to see if he had any work for me. He quickly offer me a quick job to work as a waiter. I accepted the job and quickly got the orders from the patrons at the saloon. Once done I returned to Rodger who quickly began to prepare their orders. I expected to be running it to, but it seems that's all he needed me for. As thanks for the quick help he told me were I could find more work if I wanted it.

He tells me that Black Brush Station, the outpost I had seen on the way to the Coffer is always underhanded. One of the biggest issues is the giant ant problem. Rodger says if I managed to take out a few and collect their mandibles or something to prove I slain them, I could show those to Warin at the Station and he'd probably pay me for my efforts as well as offer a job.

I had nothing else to do except the extermination job at the Plantation so I decided to take Rodger'a advice. Soon I had killed and collected a few giant ant mandibles. When I felt I had enough I passed the gates of Black Brush Station to look for Warin.

I soon found him by the gate. He was standing with two similarly dressed grey armored guards. The two guards by him were female, one was a Lalafell and the other a Hyur. Warin himself was a Hyur with short black hair. When I first spoke to him he wanted to me show him proof of my deeds. It seems many people have attempted to swindle from him in the past as he was ready to chase me away if I had none.

Thankfully I did, as I presented him the freshly gathered mandibles. He was taken aback as he did expect to me actually have any and even more so by the sheer quantity of them.

After he a moment to gather his wits he paid me for my effort and quickly offered me work if I wanted it. I can tell he cares for his workers as before he could give me my assignment he wanted to inspect my equipment. He quickly dismissed me as my equipment was not up to standard, but told me to return once I had picked some up.

It was beginning to get late and I didn't want Hihiyaja to think I had skipped on my extermination task so I quickly left Warin and hired a porter back to town. I stopped at the Plantation along the way and quickly dealt with the shrew pests that were eating the plantations worm population which were essential to grow the Saltana's prized pumpkins.

Once the exterimination job was complete, Hihiyaja told me that if I needed some quick gil I could hunt down some Orobon for Wowobaru, a chef at the Coffer who was experimenting with them in order to try to make sea food out here in the desert. I thanked him for the information and quickly returned to the city.

Soon I was back with Ul'dah's walls and was on my way to Sapphire Avenue. I wanted to see the price of armor. After a bit I found a merchant who carried it and checked their prices... It was a bit more than what I would like. So decided to not purchase it and would ask around if anyone had any spare, old, or hand-me-down gear laying around that I could purchase for cheap.

But that would have to wait to tomorrow as it was very very late. I would start my search at the Gladiator's Guild first and then move on from there. If I couldn't find any armor with a reasonable time frame I would just stomach the purchase and get it from the merchant at Sapphire Avenue.

Today was a good day. Not too exciting nor too dreary and dull. I hope more of my days are like this one, just business as usual. But I do not expect my days to remain as calm as this one was...
