Eidolon-Prelude of Shadows #3

Public
Skan, Fal, and the Sultana, Nanemo made there way to the current location of the Garlond Ironworks within Mor Dhona. Cid Garlond was rather busy trying to keep order in the ruined lands. Due to the aetherial currents being altered from the poison, Mor Dhonas vegetation life was beginning to flourish. Along side it however, much of the wildlife had begun to go insane. Making basic living much more difficult for mere civilians.

Biggs stood outside, adjusting one of the turrets they had adapted to the walls of Revenant's Toll. He glanced out to the three, waving in welcome. As the three walked through the gate, they were quickly greeted by several guards. Many from different homes, all quick to point their weapons at Skan. No matter how much he may try to help them, he would always be looked upon as one of the many trying to destroy them.

He stopped, holding his hands up a bit disappointed, though not surprised. Cid stumbled out of the seventh heaven, taking a swig of alcohol as he starred upon the three, shaking his head.

"What do you want?" He asked, slightly slurred as Nero sighed, walking from the bar as well.

"Forgive him, he is a bit indisposed at the moment. Might I welcome you to the safe haven?" Jesse walked beside the guards, having them lower there weapons as best she could.

"No, get that damned ascian out of my town." Cid stated in anger as he tripped and fell to his knee. Nero sighed walking before him as he stood beside Jesse.

"He is a bit upset, Wedge died a few weeks ago you see." Nero stated as he glanced up to Biggs, whom was clearly holding back a tear or two.

Nanemo removed her sash from her face, revealing herself to them all. A bit of happiness could be felt through out the area as she smiled up at everyone.

"I am deeply sorry for your loss in this most dire of times. The death of even one is felt by everyone right now I am sure." She stated with an incredible will. She glanced to the former home to the Scions and slowly walked up to Cid.

"My body guards are in need of an airship in working order. Might they be permitted to utilize yours Master Cid?" She asked, kneeling beside him as she gently touched his arm. He looked embarrassed, likely not realizing he would be entertaining a Sultana that day.

"Where are we headed?" He asked as he looked to her "bodyguards" with interest. As the plan was explained to Cid, he merely shook his head in disbelief.

"IF she is alive, I wager she's been through more hardship then others. Garlemeld lost power quickly after the Black Rose was unleashed." Cid lowered his head, keeping his eyes upon the map Nanemo placed on the table inside the Rising Stones.

"She is my oldest friend. I would like to make sure she is alright." He stated with much regret behind his voice.

"And bring her home."

Nanemo stood outside Revenant's Toll, where the graves had been placed for the dead Scions. Krohman and Shtolas graves remained beside each other. Lyse, had been given a spot beside the memorial for Papalymo. Thancred and Cleo again, beside each other. Uriangers burial was near a memorial for Moenbryda.

Alisaie's grave stood beside a memorial for Alphinaud, whom had gone missing during the war. She placed flowers down at each spot, praying quietly as Cids airship flew over her. She looked up and smiled for a moment as she walked back into the town.

"Good luck."

She stated as the Airship disappeared into the distance.

Cid, Fal and Skan arrived over Garlemeld within a few hours. They looked down into the once busy mechanical city which was now torn apart. Parts likely scraped for other means and no ceruleum meant all the machines were no longer usable. Cid landed his ship within the castle. As the three disembarked from the airship, Fal and Cid looked to Skan for a better insight.

"Can you sense her?" Fal asked, as he quickly twitched his ears and grasped his gunblade from his back.

"Someone's coming." He stated quickly as the three looked around for what it might be. Aiming his gunblade, Fal released a bullet near by, making three people quickly rush out toward him. They roared as they held their weapons out. Quickly Fal rushed past them, cutting them down before they had the opportunity to do anything.

"Damn. Looks like I'm staying with the ship. Go find her." Fal stated as he stood by to defend the airship. Cid nodded to him as Skan lead the way into the castle.

"I Do sense something. It's rather faint. Though I am not sure it is her or not." Skan stated as the two rushed in heading toward the source of the aether Skan was detecting. To there surprise, both could not believe how desolate the castle had become. As they walked into the main hall of the throne, they heard the sound of something hitting the floor. Skan and Fal walked slowly toward the sound and found the private quarters of the Emperor near by.

A young elezen man quickly attacked the two of them as a black carbuncle appeared and pounced upon Cid.

"What in the world!" Cid proclaimed on his back as he looked to the carbuncle. The elezen man stopped himself from attacking further as he looked upon the two.

"Cid? Is that you?" The voice of the man seemed familiar, though deeper then when last seen.

"Alphinaud?!" Cid asked as Skan walked over to him and helped him to his feet.

"We thought you dead!" Cid stated as he looked the once boy up and down, realizing he had grown into a young man now. He lowered his eyes to Cid, smiling a bit as he realized he was now slightly taller.

"My sister.... is she-"

"No." Skan stated, quickly harming Alphinaud as he lowered his head.

"I'm sorry, she did not make it. She was an incredibly strong willed woman, but, no one could fight against such a poison." Cid stated, looking to Alphinaud whom was now tearing up.

"I should have been there for her." He stated with much regret behind his words.

"I... apologize-" Skan began to talk but was quickly interrupted by Alphinaud whom looked to him in anger.

"No thanks to ascians like you. You don't get the opportunity to apologize." He declared in anger as he turned around, trying to hide how upset he was.

"Alphinaud, is Esper here? We came looking for her. It is a great pleasure to find you as well." Cid asked as he walked up to the elezen whom was looking back to them.

"Yes, yes of course she is here. Sorry, for the lapse of sanity." He stated as he began to walk down the long hall.

"Come, I am sure she would be very happy to see you. Oh and you may want to brace yourselves for a small surprise." He stated with a bit of a smile on his face. They walked into the Emperors old quarters where they noticed Esper, laying down in the bed as she read a story to a little girl whom had fallen asleep in her arms.

"Esper?" Cid asked as he slowly walked in looking to her and the girl. She did not look up as she kept her eyes upon the book and the girl.

"Alphinaud, I asked you to be a bit more quiet-" She stopped, realizing that was not Alphinauds voice. She raized her eyes to see Cid and her mouth dropped.

"Oh by the twelve.. You are alive!"

I gazed upon Cid whom quickly sat down beside the bed, looking down to the girl.

"Are you okay? Is everything alright? Who-" He stopped as the little girl moved a bit.

"Yes, I am fine. Alphinaud has been taking good care of me. Though, I admit... I do not deserve his company." I stated, as his eyes gazed down to her.

"Would you like to meet my daughter?" I asked him with a bit of a grin upon my face. Cids eyes widened as he looked her up and down. The white hair and blue highlights of the girl were the bigger differences between us, but aside from that, he could see the more interesting part of her, she looked very similar to me as a child. I gently touched her cheek and rubbed at her temple, waking her up to look up at Cid with her ruby red eyes.

"NNnnnahh.... who's this mummy?" She asked, rather tired as she rubbed at her eyes. I smiled a bit as I looked up to Cid.

"This, Senna, is a very good friend of mine. Think of him as a prince, come to save a little princess!" I stated with a smile as she gently leaned up on the bed.

"Hello mister prince! I'm Senna!" She looked to sid with a really big grin, releasing a little giggle. Cid leaned down and reached a hand out to me.

"Let's take you three home." He said, feeling an immense amount of pleasure, and relief as I grasped his hand.

At the Revenant's Toll, outside where the graves of the Scions laid. A burst of power tore through the grave of Krohman. His hands would reach from the ground as he would pull himself out, taking a long, deep breath of fresh air. The skys began to pour rain as his eyes fell upon the grave stone of Shtola and he wept.
