I have no idea in seven hells what to do with my gear. I am basically just equipping whatever is given to me if the stats look better.
I know, many of you may be cringing at the thought of that. But, I'm such a low level that I do not think it really matters quite yet.
Thank being said: What exactly is the different with ranged weapons? The game keeps giving me a variety of long or short bows which I presume each has it's own benefit.
Really, the long bow just looks like I am going to trip over it as I run up stairs, tree logs, random rocks, anything but the clear path I should be taking.
Baby Myst, the one with the highest item level is the best. It has the highest weapon damage and main stat (Dex for you), which has the most effect on damage.
There are 2 exceptions, for crafted weapons you always want the HQ one (with a small swirly symbol next to the name). Normal crafted weapons are inferior to dungeon drops of the same item level, so avoid them.
The other exception is Bards, who sometimes take a weapon with slightly less damage but more critical rate, since crit is valuable to bards. But that's something you don't really have to worry about for a long time. Just equip the highest item level thing and kick butt!
Baby, the look of the thing is just that, looks. Don't matter if it is big or small, in fact, there are some REALLY ludicrous looking large bows out there so it can be hard to find a nice looking one. (hint, Shiva's diamond bow, it GLOWS! ;p )
Yeah, Crit above ALL in Bard stats! It is REALLY needed for them to really shine.
But being low level, don't worry about that crap till after 50 or 60. Just use whatever you find and try to keep it close to your current level if you can.
Thank you all for the amazing advice.
Glowing weapons!! I cannot wait to see that. Right now I am excited if my shirt matches my pants.
Mis-matching is coming back in style, right..right?.. Oh who am I kidding. Maybe no one will notice the yellow shirt and red pants until I get my next set.
