I recently saw that Summoner and Ninja, the two classes I main, will be losing their Damage over Time skills. I hate this. Why is this happening? Summoner being able to spread poison over a whole group was it's best feature other than Bahamut and Phoenix. Now they're showing the changes for Endwalker, and it seems like it plays like Black Mage but with more steps. Summoning is just a way to access other powers. Doubling damage with poison and big blasts made Summoner respected. And for a solo player it helped me survive while soloing FATEs.
Does anyone know why they're doing this?
I know they wanna balance classes but Summoner was balanced. It was powerful while being OP. And the stop as best DPS of magic is still Black Mage. So why remove poison attacks and DoTs?
The number of dots have slowly gone down each expansion. I would speculate that it will open up actions spots for more interactive skills and abilities. To a lesser extent, it also balances world content like fates and hunts where enemies have a maximum number of effects that can be on them.
Yeah, okay, but to remove poison and poison spreading from Summoner deminishes it without giving it anything in return. It was part of the classes identity. Other than that all it can do is summon and spam black mage like spells. That's not anything that unique. For a person who likes to spread poison in RPGs that ruined SMN, IMO.
