Adventure Log 1

Public
I should have started this a while back, when I first started my journey 2 weeks ago, but it didn’t occur to me to keep a log. However, as time passed, there are so many things that had happened that are very important to me, and I would like to retain these memories forever. Memories can fade over time, but a log, if well protected, can be eternity.

My name is Lilly Little, and I am a Lalafell. I started my journey heading to Gridania. The green trees and ever flowing streams have always left me feeling at peace so it didn’t take me long to decide that I wanted to make Gridania my home; the one place I will always come back to. So, when it came time for me to choose a Grand Company, I didn’t hesitate in joining The Order of the Twin Adder. Even though there are no free plots now, the dream, and goal, would be to buy a house in Lavender Bed, but I have a long way to go before then.

I was lucky when I first started. I was greeted with friendly faced and invited to join a free company, quickly becoming friends with many. They were very helpful as I stumbled my way around the world, and answering all the questions I had like a five year old child would ask as their curiosity of the world grows: “Where do I find this?”; “How do I unlock that?”; “How many Guild’s can I join?”; “When can I buy my first house?”; etc, etc. They were patient with me and even re-answered some questions I have asked before, but had completely forgotten the answer to.

Along the way, as I grew, El Nightwind took the time to keep my gear updated, and without it I would have died many times over. Then, when Duties were open to me and I started my dungeon runs, I was able to count on the free company to come to aid the long wait lines. I half thought it was silly of me to joying the archer guild without a second thought; of course DPS would have the longest party finding wait time, but it was my first instinct. If I used my brain a bit it would have been the Conjurer guild. It would have been a little annoying and taken a little longer, or at least feel a bit longer to get stronger, but at least I would never have to wait to find a party in Dungeon runs. Oh well, c’est la vie. I don’t plan on going backwards. I will push on as a Bard (since I’ve been told that all the other DoW/DoM are a lot easier to level after one of them gets to level 70).

However, my partner, Bob, did. He stopped focusing on strengthening his skills as a Pugilist, and became a Gladiator. He has always been like that, trying to keep me and the team alive. Alisu mentored Bob the other day as we ran a dungeon together on different skill combos and how to keep aggravation.

The people around me, moves me to work harder. So, I pushed to be stronger. I wanted to be able to contribute in somewhat to those that have assist me so far. In the span of two weeks I have gotten really far, but had almost forgotten to enjoy the experience around me. It seems like I’ve always been one to sprint to catch up and meet some deadline instead of taking in my experiences and the time I spend with others. I always end up thinking the amount of things I do is not enough. I haven’t accomplished anything, because I’m not the one providing or lending a hand. It is a silly notion really, but I don’t think I am able to help myself from thinking that way: I’m useless unless I can contribute, but I do don’t I? Everyday that I am on, talking to them, making jokes. It’s not something that can be physically touched, but contributing one’s time to spend with others is something many of us take for granted, or even realize that what we have given is something important. We could be doing anything else with that time, but we chose to spend it with one person or another.

Although it has been a short while, all of that seems like a faded memory now. Within the next few weeks or so, I’m going to try to recall them and write them down because they are important to me, and important things needs to be recorded and remembered.

Hi Lilly, nice to see you are enjoying the game. I'll tell you right now, just because you CAN level up fast and speed through stuff does NOT mean you SHOULD! ;p

If you want to slow down and just take in the sights, gab with people for hours and take things slowly, DO IT! Enjoy the game the way YOU want to do it.

Hell, it took me NINETEEN months from the beginning to get to the end of the Stormblood expansion and I STILL have the patch stuff after that to do. I am DAMN slow! LOL
