Farming Overview

This guide will show you one of the fastest ways to farm Irregular Tomestones of Lore (aka "moogle tomes") for the Moogle Treasure Trove special event in patch 5.58. This method got me 30 tomes in 10 minutes (180 per hour).

One of the most efficient objectives to farm is The Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 2. This is a level 50 dungeon which has four rooms: first with three easy enemies and last with one boss called ADS. This objective rewards three tomes and is expected to be cleared in under 1 minute using the method below, queuing as either blue mage (recommended) or other non-healer.

As with all methods for farming the Moogle Treasure Trove event, this must be synced. Playing unsynced will not reward any tomes.

Blue Mage

The general strategy is to use Missile to chunk down the first three enemies, then use the spell combo Whistle > Tingle > Moon Flute > Final Sting to demolish the boss in the fourth room, throwing a Swiftcast in there somewhere to save some time. Use Aetherial Mimicry (DPS) to output more damage as well.

It's as simple as that, but make sure you have these spells first!

Missile — Enkidu from level 50 trial Battle in the Big Keep (Hildebrand Side Quests)
Whistle — Dhalmel in The Sea of Clouds (x16,y32)
Tingle — Ebisu Catfish in Yanxia (x28,y6)
Moon Flute — Whalaqee Moon Flute Totem from Wayward Gaheel Ja in Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X:12.5 Y:12.9) after clearing 10 stages in Masked Carnivale
Final Sting — Killer Wespe in Middle La Noscea (x15,y15)
Aetherial Mimicry — Ghrah Luminary from level 60 dungeon Pharos Sirius (Hard)

Note: Missile is by far the hardest of these to obtain (however one of the most powerful BLU spells). You may get away with not having this if the rest of your party has it, since you can only halve and enemy's health so many times before you just kill it. Aetherial Mimicry and Tingle might also be considered optional, but they're easy to get so just grab 'em.

Non-Blue Mage

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A BLUE MAGE TO FARM THIS METHOD

Of course it won't be contributing as much as a BLU would for a quick clear, but if you have a group who is consistently getting fast clears most people will not mind and understand not everyone has a level 70 BLU with a full spellbook. There should still be at least 5 BLU in a party to hit the 1 minute clear time.

Common replacements for BLU could be anyone that does lots of damage like a ranged DPS who can also cast Peloton, or PLD/WAR/DRK if you'd like to farm one of the tank mounts. Healers are not necessary with this method.

Note: Though this can work, I highly recommend working on leveling a blue mage and collecting those spells. for farming Moogle Treasure Trove events, specific dungeons for relic objectives, etc. You will benefit greatly from having a BLU now and in the future, so it's worth the investment!

Loot

If you are grinding it there are a few loot items you might as well keep an eye out for after killing ADS. This is also a case you can make for joining a party as non-BLU, you will not be dead to Final Sting and be able to open chests.

2 pieces of Allagan gear — generally useless but can be turned in for 518 seals/FC credits, desynth practice, or glam
1 crafting material — junk, used to craft Replica Allagan gear
2 Allagan Aetherstones — junk, used to craft Replica Allagan gear
1 ADS Frame — extremely valuable, extremely low drop rate. Sell this on the market board for hundreds of thousands of gil or use to craft housing items Seating Module or Illumination Module

Note: The ADS Frame is automatically awarded to someone and does not require any chests to be opened to be obtained.
