NOT FF 14 people, FF FOUR!

I may have mentioned back in the day, I have barely played any of the Final Fantasy games. I have tied, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, and have only actually completed 10, which kept my interest long enough to finish it.

FF 9 I ALMOST finished, but for some weird reason, stopped playing right near the end. Don't know why, just stopped and never went back to it.

FF 7,8,12,13, I put some hours into them, but just dropped them after about 20ish hours. FF15 I got bored with quickly, maybe after 5 hours.

So this beings me to FF 4, which I heard many good things about. Good story, good characters, shorter length, about 20ish hours to completion. It all sounded good to me, so I picked it up in the SE Steam sale to play on the Steam Deck.

I got the 3ds version with enhanced graphics and voiced cutscenes, since I had read it had added some QOL stuff the original did not have. Plus I don't give a damn about that retro look crap, so this version seemed best.

Booted it up, went in, and did the beginning stuff. Right away I could see where FF14 got the Dragoons from, spitting image of them in FF4. Story seemed interesting. King being mean to people, Captain don't like it but has to do his duty anyway. Feel like someone is either going to rebel or get betrayed.

Go through town, talk to people, find crap, roam the land, get into easy fights, find cave, beat up more creatures, find boss, fight him, die horribly because I am shit at boss fights, even the Goddamn FIRST one! BAH, stupid boss gimmick! Do gimmick, beat boss.

Anyway, get to town, find it all messed up and some odd girl which I help and my companion leaves, not wanting to help me save her. And THIS is where the problems begin.

Excuse my language, but HOW the fuck am I SUPOSSED to HEAL myself when this Dragoon of mine has NO healing capability and NO way to buy any potions? Seriously, I am out in the lands trying to get someplace I have no idea where and random attacks' hit me constantly! I am out of potions, using them in the boss fight before, and I only have 1 tent left to heal me at all.

If this girl is a healer, she is useless since she is unconscious, so it is just little ol' me against group after group of monsters as I watch my HP whittle down lower and lower after every random fight with no way to heal.

Seriously people, seriously?

UGH, I should have KNOWN better than to try an old retro game with old school 80's/90's gameplay. This crap is for the birds. My younger self might have had the patience for it back in the day, but my ancient old ass does NOT!

I guess I could TRY to persevere to see if I can get somewhere where that stupid girl will wake up and provide me some much needed HEALING! Or I could just dump it and play something more fun. ;p I only paid $8 for it, so not too much of a loss. I don't know, we'll see.
