Last Sunday when we finally got to T13 I mentioned that we had been doing this MINE static for over SIX months. We started back at the end of October of last year. I was shocked, that is a LONG time to be doing something and it is not over yet. I was told that we would probably be proggimg T13 for about 6 weeks to clear it.
Of course though, many of the people in it now are NOT the ones who started. I think there are only 4 original members left. Both tanks, one healer, and one DPS eventually left for various reasons.
I will tell you, it is not easy being available week after week, month after month, good thing it's only once a week. I don't know how these multi day statics do it week after week, I certainly couldn't. It's a big reason why I don't try savage raiding, being married with children AND working nights, I simply cannot devote THAT amount of time to be consistently reliable.
Speaking of reliability, that is the biggest annoyance in doing a static. Having people not be able to come at the last minute or being really late is sooooo annoying. Look, I DO know 'real life' happens and gets in the way at times, but it's also nice if people try and plan around the static night if possible. This is the reason some people got booted, they got to be too unreliable, always flaking out.
I always think that these statics that raid and stay together for years must be really hardcore to be so consistent. Surely 'real life' messing them up at times for various reasons. To persevere and keep going year after year through the content is just something else and I am sure VERY tiring at times.
Hell, when T13 is finally cleared, I will be SOOOOOOOO glad it is all done and over with and I have my Sunday nights back. Also the Thursday static with the EX primals, when the last 80 is down and there are no more to do. (ironically, it will probably be the 5.5 one making a full SHB set)
But heck, if you like doing hard stuff and are lucky enough to have a consistent group that sticks together raid after raid, congrats! Enjoy it while it lasts.
If you can get a static of friends who all have the same goals then it's pretty easy to stick together.
But I know from experience that when you're raiding with people who are more casual than you and you are stuck on one of your off-jobs it can get rather irritating, even when those people are your friends.
Imagine working shifts of 7 days, with changing "weekends" and morning/noon/nights.
I either change my job or I will never have a static! How could I be in one when I'm the -least- static thing about it? lol
