People, the worst thing about this game sometimes.

I guess this is kind of a rant but not really; more of a frustrating observation.
When one plays a MMORPG like FF14, one knows that they will be surrounded by people playing other characters. They also know that eventually, no matter how much they try to make it a 'single' experience, they will have to interact and rely on said people for various aspects of the MMORPG.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. Meeting and playing with others is a fun experience and more often than not makes the game more enjoyable. But yet, people ARE people and having to deal with them can also lead to the more negative aspects of such.
As I look for things to do in FF14, I have been doing more and more PF groups for harder stuff. Doing this though VERY much relies on people choosing to join the party finder groups that I am interested in, and therein lies the problem.
I don't know how often people here try to learn hard stuff, but in FF14 it is rather difficult if the stuff is NOT new. Sure when the hard thing comes out people are flocking to learn it, tons of PF's are up to progress through it. But when the fad passes, the number grow less and less, making it hard for people late to it to learn.
So, here I am trying to learn Seat of Sacrifice EX, but to do so I need others to also be interested in joining the PF's so we have a full group. And let me tell you, it can take a loooong time to get a learning group together. Yeah, I have to rely on people to participate in this and let me tell you, it is REALLY frustrating doing so.
Certain jobs can take a long time to fill and it can take an awfully long time to get to a full group. If we do get a full group together, we got to hope that they will stay together long enough to actually GET somewhere and not leave after a few quick mess ups. Actual progression can be a real mess too if you advertise for phase 3 and get people who can't even do phase 1 without dying over and over.
All this is even more evident with older stuff you try to do synced. Putting together one of those parties takes FOREVER! and on TOP of that, people can't READ!
I tried yesterday to join a synced party for the Striking Tree, and soooo many people joined thinking it was unsynced. I mean, REALLY? It said SYNCED RIGHT in the description even when it was capitalized!!!!!! I mean wow, just WOW! Soooooo frustrating!
Yeah, it did eventually happen, for a little while at least until one of the tanks left and that was that. So much time wasted sitting around waiting to fill for like 15 minutes of play time, sigh.
Now, there is little left in the game that interests me anymore and the harder fights are basically it. But if it has to rely so much on others to want to ALSO do them and wait and wait and wait for the parties to fill, I think this might be a foolish folly and I need to just move on to something else.
I am sorry to hear your interest for the game is dwindling due to others abilities, maybe a break is a wise decision, or you could chamge it up by leveling up other classes waiting to be leveled. I am always up for helping queues pop faster in that regard.
Patience only goes so far when you are trying to continue progression in a fight. It’s rough when someone joins and they haven’t cleared even part one when you’ve asked for part two progression.
Aw, this is disappointing indeed (and you're absolutely right, people tend to breeze past explanatory text in a very frustrating way). I guess this is why there are Discord servers dedicated to doing older content synced - it's easier to put a party together when you have a pool of like-minded people to recruit from. I can't think of any names right now but if I do I'll be sure to tell you.
I've leveled everything I want to level, nothing else interests me.
Ugh, tell me about it Esper, it is sooooo annoying. I try never to do that to people, just joining pf's I know I can do. I am ready for phase 3 in SoS though now.
Yeah Lalli, I know they are out there, at least used to be. I think they re not done as much as they were back in the day.
Oh, one thing I did not mention.
I decided to help with a Unreal practice party, but when we started so me was on the phone with their mom. So we waited, and waited, and waited. 15 minutes later, STILL waiting. I mean, REALLY? Either leave or hang up.
Well, turns out they were part of a group of friends and decided to just cancel the party for now, so they disbanded the group. But really, I don't why I bother sometimes dealing with people.
