Day 144: Part 2

Public

Part 2:

"Feo," Annabel looked at the small creature with a dubious look on her beautiful face. "You know VERY well that I cannot take the throne with all the work that still needs done both here AND in Eorzea. Plus if I didn't know better, I would think someone is trying to foist THEIR 'responsibility' on yours truly, hmmmmm?........"

Feo looked aghast at the young blonde's words, though Annabel could tell it was more to hide the Fae Queen's guilt. "What? ME? I would NEVER try or even THINK of such a thing to attempt! Surely you think of me better than THAT Sapling. I was ONLY concerned about your welfare my Dear; yes yes, THAT'S it, your welfare, NOT of any small benefit I might have received from having this done."

"Uh huh, surrrre Feo, and this ditzy blonde believes EVERY word of it.....if I was REALLY as ditzy as people think I am." Annabel then gave the pixie a grin. "I will say it WAS a good try though; maybe one day you will eventually find someone to palm it off on."

"I will tell you now Sapling, that day can't come fast enough for me. Ugh, I don't know WHAT I was thinking taking that job. Day in and day out it's; Queen Feo, I need help with this. Queen Feo, these reports need to be looked at. Queen Feo, the Fey are fighting again. UGH, it's enough to make one stay in the mortal realms for GOOD, almost.........."

"Wow," Annabel looked a bit surprised, "that bad eh? And you wanted ME to do it? Thanks a LOT Feo!" Then she laughed, a bright, cheerful laugh filled with mirth followed by a sigh of relief and a thankful smile directed towards the Fae Queen. "Thank you so much for that Feo, I really needed it after what I've been through."

"Feo smiled in return. "See my dear Sapling, and here you thought I was trying to be devious. Well, you're right, just not in the way you thought." She gave Annabel a wink then softened her small face. "You know, you can always call on me if you truly need help, you are not alone in this."

Annabel's smile turned into a melancholy sigh. "So people keep telling me. Oh don't get me wrong, I know it's true and all. But I also know there is only so much that they can truly do; the majority of it has to be on my shoulders and mine alone. I don't mind telling you Feo, the burden is very taxing."

"Taxing it may be my dear Sapling, but like I and others have said; don't be afraid to hand off some of it to others as needed. Your allies are stronger then you think. You would be surprised on just how much they can handle what the Warrior of Light passed on to them."

Annabel turned away from the pixie to look at the scene before her and asked, "and if they should fall?"

"Then it was our choice to do so", Feo said simply, "and one we make gladly so our world can be free."

Annabel closed her eyes to mull over that word, 'choice', and the fact that it was a word that had been out of her reach for a long while; thanks to the Echo, the Crystalline being that gave it to her, and fate.......

Turning back, the young woman in pink framed by the Light this world was cursed with looked first at the crystal city, then at the Far Queen fluttering in front of her.

Well, if they really want to, who am I to refuse.......

"Then I accept, I would be kind of stupid not to, right? This is a daunting task ahead and I'll need all the help I can get, wherever I can get it."

"Yes!" Feo said excitedly. "By the Fae, that's the spirit!" Then she became suspicious, "you WILL call on me, right? Not like that LAST time where I the ONLY one ignored......"

Annabel stuttered her reply, blushing. "I...I...Er.....um...there WAS a reason, REALLY!"

"Uh huh, SURE there was Sapling. I STILL think that sneaky Faerie Dragon had something to DO with it. I am telling you, you can't TRUST them!" The pixie fumed, "If I EVER see that thing again I WILL give it a piece of my mind before sending it to the hundred pits of Hell!"

Oh Boy! "And on THAT note, I think I better get going, the Exarch wants to see me about something, again, and I hope it's good news for once." She gave a frown at that thought. It never was usually, but maybe this time it would be different. Like the pixie said, she needed ALL the help she could get; maybe it was time to actually use the people that were willing to give it.

"Very well my Sapling," Feo Ul said changing her tone. "I wish you the best of luck and I know you won't fail us. We pixies don't put our trust in just anyone you know."

Twirling as she left, Feo called out in a huff, "and DON'T forget ME this time!" Then she was gone in a flurry of sparkles.

Starting her walk back to the Crystal tower, Annabel walked with purpose and hope in her step. She had determination, she had allies, and she had the Echo. And, she thought, there is NO way what is happening now could get ANY worse, right, RIGHT?"

She really did NOT want to know the answer to that.......
