Self Discussion of why I Main Healers/other stuff

Public
I've always enjoyed healing more than tanking/dps(though both are fun too) and honestly think that healers need a bit more love. We aren't as rare as Tanks and not as common as dps, yet we aren't really incentivized as tanks nor have as much complexity as a dps' rotation. Even promo media with Derplander will more easily take on a new Tank/Dps job since it's easier to see the Rule of Cool. Feels like we're a middle child at times. Kinda makes me scared 6.0 won't have a new Healer despite it most likely will. So what makes me want to Heal?

While I'm no hardcore raider and for lack of a static and personal time I barely raid at all. Usually only Extremes but lately haven't had the time to do even that. On top of that I wear a combat Mentor Crown(still want a watering can) so there comes the usual stigma of either the Mentor needing to be Godlike at all times(aka Godbert in some circles), ignored for simply displaying it, or is in it for the vanity. So why do I display a crown? Why do I heal? and most importantly why am I a Kitty?

[Why do I heal?]

1. I enjoy healing, supporting the rest of the team, and the responsibility it comes with.

2. Being able to have a more notable sway on how a pull goes. How fast a dungeon goes, how risky a raid party can be.

3. Canes/Staves. I secretly want WHM to do more flourishes, spins, and wide swinging of spells with the staff. Like rather than palming Asylum why not pull the cane to our side with a spin then flicking the staff to launch the Asylum. BLM may literally Sling spells but I'm sure WHM can have a few.

4. Queue times. Though this is just a bonus in my book.

5. Feeling the most in tune with every mechanic. Obviously every role has their own mechanics to deal with but with healing if any of them involve damage then that means we too need to be aware of them. This also means it is the most reactive role if mistakes are made.

[Why display mentor?]

1. I display it not as a "beacon of notice me" or "trust me more" but as a sign that I'm open to questions. Even if I end up unable to answer them. Expectations of combat prowess should be based on how the Mentor views themself. Did they pick it up to introduce others getting into the Job? Are they here solely to help out Sprouts?

2. Obviously most of the community is open to questions. just need to ask in Party or Shout and chances are you'll get an answer. If that's the case why display as a Mentor? Same as 1. To show as willing to help if possible or open to help.

Admittedly I don't go out of my way to help. I answer only if asked. I don't spoil fights until someone asks me or says they want to know, and/or we wipe several times with little to no progress. I'm an introvert, I won't say anything unless needed.

3. While I'm not a hardcore raider I can still give out tips on my most played Jobs and some of their more common mistakes. Example: I've seen so many healers overheal an AoE when the party has no chance of dying shortly after. If the party isn't gonna die then let any regens bring them back to full. Gives you time to dps and save resources.

Another example: Priority targets. Drop trying to rez someone if the Tank can't survive the Buster aimed at them at this very moment and pop a heal on them. Same for dps if there are AoEs. Bringing back someone to the fight shouldn't cost you other lives. Most Importantly: You. Because *insert Hivemind Healer vid*

[Why am I a Kitty?]

1. There is no Cute Fox Girl Race.

Now if you actually read through that then thanks for your time~ also I'm sure you could've filled that time with something more meaningful than my random thoughts as I discuss with myself, but whether you felt it was worth the time or not, thank you~

Relax. Have fun. Enjoy life.

Sincerely,
your Healer/Daycare Attendant/Deity

As a tank main, I worship you healers.

Honestly I hope there's a new healer, and I hope they bring back Astrologians identity. I'm new to the game, and was beginning to level it, but noticed that the card system was butchered into only passing out dps. That's boring. That and the pretty abilities were the only reasons I liked it(Scholar is okay, but White Mage isn't fun to me). The healers definitely need more love. Also, kitty life FTW.
