Character
So it's already been a week since I started playing, time flies eh? Admittedly reallife has been curtailing how much game time I have been able to through in this week, but still it's been a blast so far:D
My main guy has gotten to level 23 as a lancer, and I am loving it all. My screen shot folder is already over 2gigs lol. (yeah I'm and photo snapping so'in'so) I'll just be questing and the ingame sun will rise to a magnificent view and 'click click click' away i go....not just landscapes either, buildings random players awesome character designs. Oh I could go on for hours...
Gameplay! I've gotten a fairly good idea of what I need to do leveling all my other jobs up, ironically I don't dread it like I used to dread having to level up lowbes on other MMO's. The events in the fields as well as the guildleves are a great system!^.^
So far everyone has been very very friendly, only people I avoid are the standard MMO fair (RMT spammers and guildinvite bot'ers, you know the types)
Speaking of I've been considering joining a Free Company at some point soon, might wait until the end of the month bit still soon.
Only bit is I don't know the full scope of the Free Companies(guilds) in this MMO. Are they cross server or Isolated? I expect isolated, and if so does anyone know any good ones of whom are recruiting on Adamantoise? or have any tips on how to find ones that would be a good fit?

Free companies are indeed isolated. The best thing to do is try em out and see where you fit.

Rand, loving the pictures! My favorite subject posted on these blogs by far is seeing this game through others experiences. It matters not that I have ridden past all the exact spots many times over, the moment I see it from a different perspective it provides a new take and appreciation for all the details.
glad to give em:D I dont think I could ever get tired of snapping screen shots in this game, the visuals are just so epic. From the general ambient landscapes to simple water and fire effects. Best bit is there is no game drag, no slow down even with it looking like it does!^.^
I'm absolutely loving the game. having been fan of final fantasy 1to10, and 12 the game has felt like a reach back to the classic final fantasies. The job system and moogle(style) like in FF5, Gold Saucer and Chocobo racing like FF7 races and character style falling between 1to10 and 12 perfectly. The base game combat is the familiar WSAD 1-= action bar etc. Similar enough to be easy to jump into, but new enough to feel fresh. Community wise it's fantastic, people have been very warm and open.

Don't worry, you'll meet some salty players and trolls in your adventures. ;P
For secondary jobs, the armory bonus makes fates a good option besides leves and Potd.
Free companies are isolated. But they're implementing a cross server party finder to make it easy to play with friends in the same datacenter soon.
