So the epic journey continues...
It took less than a week for me to re-arrange the fifth attempt in going to PoTD. I got both the tank and the MNK back from my second attempt in PoTD. Because Zen dropped out, the MNK invited her friend (another WHM) to join. We agreed to start at 7pm ST on Wednesday, then continue on Friday and the weekend.
As Wednesday approached, I gathered the team together. Guess what, the WHM was afk and nowhere to be found. We waited for 15 minute, then I suggested I will find someone to replace her. However, the MNK wanted us to wait for her friend no matter what. So we waited.
For one whole hour.
The tank and I got so bored that two of us went off and run Alex Normal.
By the time the WHM showed up, it was getting late. We made it to floor 100 in the first day. Then we called it a day and resumed on Friday.
Then, Friday came, we resumed at floor 101.
We did about 15 floor. Then the MNK told us that she is unwell and need to use the bathroom. We cleaned up the mob on that floor while she was afk. Then I said, it will really slow down our progress. However, if she was really unwell, we can call it a day early and resume another day.
The subtext was clear. If you were British, you will notice that the important part is “it will really slow down our progress”. The correct answer is you should thank for my concern and politely decline my offer to end the run early. I guess, for foreigners, they are, well, clueless.
So, she took the offer and we call the day off.
In the British culture, there is one thing we always like to say, and it is,
If you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say anything at all.
I know many people from other part of the world think we are hypocritical. However, I am not sure if it is ever acceptable to tell a woman to git gud if she says she is suffering from certain type of physical pain. Being British to me means we can only secretly judge people and make sneaky remakes behind their back.
(If anyone interested in how communication works in this culture, I ran into this article where the first part is funny.

The next day came and we resumed the run at floor 121. We started earlier that day because we hardly made any progress the day before. Very quickly, we hit floor 125.
“I need to go to dinner.” The WHM said to us.
“Should we quickly get to floor 130, and we can take a longer break?” I asked.
“No, I have to go now. My family is at the dinner.” The WHM replied. “I will be back in 10 min.”
“But if you afk, you may get afk kicked. It may count as a KO.”
“I will do autorun at the wall.”
“But you are not touching any button, do you?” Our WAR asked.
In case you are wondering, there is absolutely nothing you can do can to stop a person from going afk. Three of us waited patiently at the dungeon while killing mob. The WAR suggested we should have asked her to do /follow. However, if she is not touching any button, will /follow cancel out the afk?
To our horror, 10 minutes passed and she got afk kicked out of the dungeon. We went out and check our save slot. KO is now 1. We have to start at floor 51 again.
While the MNK told the WHM that it was not her fault (seriously?), both me and the WAR just had enough.
