Recruitment on PF was slow as hell, but I got a numbers of replies from my recruitment ad on Reddit. The most unexpected one was from someone in Gilgamesh server.
“Why would you ever interested in joining my static in Cerberus?” I asked him. “You are in the biggest raiding server in FFXIV. If you need a static, wouldn't it be easier to look locally?”
“The problem in Gilgamesh is, most statics either have a8s down and on farm, or they disband already. Some are on break until the next patch, but at the moment, it is hard to find a static that look for people for a8s progression.” He said to me.
Funny enough, he was not the only one from Gilgamesh contacted me. All other people paint me more or less the same picture.
As much as I would like to give those people a try, I think it was too risky for them. It was late July early August. No one knew when the next patch will be out. Even if I can get a full team at this moment, we might only have a few weeks to get the job done. Does it even worth to ask these people to transfer to Cerberus just for a try out? We might not even get along with each other. If we do get along, will we be able to down A8S in a few weeks? Not to mention, I have not one, but three slots to fill. If it doesn't work out, what the future holds for these people? They are probably better off to stay in Gilgamesh for a good static for 3.4.
Out of all the people who contacted me on Reddit, three of them are Odin server. One of them is a SCH with a name very similar to my old friend. Her name was Tinker Belle.
“So me current static decides to take a break until 3.4.” She told me. “I would like to stay with them, but I can go without raid until the new patch.”
“That’s fine. In theory I don't know if any of these will work out. Ideally we try it out by baiting queue via raid finder, so nobody has to transfer until we are sure this is the way to go.” I said.
“So I don't have to leave my static?”
“Not for now.” I replied. “If everything works well and we down a8s this patch, we can talk we want to be in the same team in the next patch. The reality is I have too many missing spot in the static. I can't guarantee anything will work and I don't want to mess other people up.”
Technically I had three spots to full, but that week Cryo and our old MNK was around to help out. At that time I was hoping that I will eventually find replacement in Cerberus, but it never happened. Tinker was the first one, and then the next few people we tried out were all from Odin server.
At some point I was tempted to log into Shiva and ask for help there. However, my old FC is not a hard core raiding FC. At least, Lyc always wanted to be inclusive to FC members who were less skilled and less experience. Therefore, it was unlikely anyone there has experience in A8S. I am sure Annie can play WAR better than Raptor, and most likely killed a8s already. However, that will implied I have to bug the people in my old German static, which frankly was too awkward to ever ask. Not to mention, I will probably be looking for Reika if I log into Shiva. At that point, I was not sure if she was dead already or still alive. In fact, I wonder which outcome would upset me more.
