Pilgrim's Traverse is an ever-changing dungeon whose architecture is never quite the same each time players enter. All players will begin at level 91, and only by fighting the enemies within will they be able to gain the strength and experience needed to explore its expanse.

Players who choose to leave and return later can continue playing from where they last saved. We challenge all who enter to make it to the final area!
* Pilgrim's Traverse save data is separate to data used for other deep dungeons. Two save data slots are available for Pilgrim's Traverse.

Getting Started

Requirements

Any Disciple of War or Magic (excluding limited jobs) Lv. 91

The Crystarium (X:10.3 Y:10.7)

Bright-eyed Child

Complete the quest Endwalker and floor 50 of the Palace of the Dead.

Entering Pilgrim's Traverse

Players can enter Pilgrim's Traverse by speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg. When entering as a party, only the party leader can start the instance.
* All party members must be in Il Mheg to enter the dungeon.
* Players may enter with a cross-world party.

Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0)

Vanthau

Players who have cleared the area marked by stone 30 of Pilgrim's Traverse and completed the sidequest "Faerie Tale" will be given the option to start from the following stones when creating a new save file, dependent on dungeon progress.
When starting from traverse stone 21 and beyond, players will be set to level 100 and their inventories will be cleared of pomanders and juniper incense.

Stone 1
Stone 21
Stone 31
Stone 51
Stone 71

Fixed Party

Players may enter with a group of up to four players, with no restrictions to classes, jobs, or roles.

Entering Pilgrim's Traverse

After speaking with Vanthau, select "Enter Pilgrim's Traverse," then choose an unused save slot. Next, select "Enter with a fixed party." All future forays into Pilgrim's Traverse must be done with the party members and party composition chosen upon registering.

Party Composition

When creating a fixed party, players are free to choose any combination of jobs and classes they desire.

Save Data

Your character's level, illumed aetherpool arm and armor strength, inventory, and dungeon progression will be recorded.

Resuming Play

Players in a fixed party must have uniform save data. Moreover, this save data can only be used with the party members and party composition chosen when first entering Pilgrim's Traverse.

Matched Party

Similar to the Duty Finder, players may choose to be randomly matched with other players on the same data center. Matched parties will always be comprised of four players. When registering with less than four players, any open party slots will be filled automatically.
Members may be added in the event that party composition falls below the minimum size. However, members cannot be added while challenging areas from stone 91 onwards.

Entering Pilgrim's Traverse

After speaking with Vanthau, select "Enter Pilgrim's Traverse," then choose an unused save slot. Next, select "Enter with a matched party." All future forays into Pilgrim's Traverse must be done with the class or job chosen when first registering.

Party Composition

Players in matched parties are free to choose any composition of jobs and classes they desire. It is not necessary to register with the same players each time. However, you must use the class or job you selected when first registering as a matched party.

Save Data

Your character's level, illumed aetherpool arm and armor strength, and dungeon progression data will be saved.

Resuming Play

Players will be matched with party members who have the same dungeon progression saved. In order to be matched, players must enter with the same class or job that was equipped when progression was first saved. Furthermore, aetherpool weapons and gear strength must be above the requisite for the given area. Players can join a party in progress by first checking the "Join Party in Progress" box in the Duty Finder menu, then speaking with Vanthau.
* Character level may be adjusted when joining a party in progress.

Recording Progress

Boss enemies will appear every 10 traverse stones. Upon defeating them, players will be able to record their progress, at which time they may choose to leave the deep dungeon. Please note that progress made in strengthening illumed aetherpool arms and armor is saved independently and shared across all save data. See below for more details.
* The party KO count will increase in the event that you log out or lose connection before reaching these checkpoints.

Stone 31 and Beyond

While the path up to the area marked by stone 30 is related to the story of Pilgrim's Traverse, all areas after were created strictly as a challenge for players. To challenge areas marked by stone 31 and beyond, players must complete the sidequest "Faerie Tale."
Save data with one or more party KOs cannot be used for stone 31 or beyond.
* Please be advised that the party KO count will also increase in the event your party abandons the duty or logs out while inside the instance.

Overview

Level RequirementDisciple of War or Magic level 91
Item Level Requirement-
Number of Participants1 to 4 Players
Time Limit60 minutes

Character Growth

Players will start Pilgrim's Traverse at level 91 regardless of their current class or job level. By defeating monsters that appear in the dungeon, players will be able to gain EXP and level their characters up to 100. Your Pilgrim's Traverse level is not directly related to your level outside of the dungeon.

Dungeon EXP

All enemies players encounter in Pilgrim's Traverse will give a fixed amount of EXP regardless of the number of members in your party or the difference in level between you and the enemy. Rested experience and experience bonuses will also be ignored.

Actions

There will be no adjustments to or restrictions on any actions or statuses. However, players must first reach the required level in the dungeon to have access to them. Players will even have the opportunity to gain actions and statuses above their current level regardless of whether or not they have completed the necessary class or job quests.
* Please note that players who have entered the deep dungeon with a class will be restricted from using any job actions.

Illumed Aetherpool Gear

Players will be restricted to the use of an illumed aetherpool arm and illumed aetherpool armor when inside Pilgrim's Traverse. In addition to gaining levels, players must enhance these items as they progress through the dungeon. Note that illumed aetherpool armor will take the appearance of your current gear upon entering the instance.
* Normal gear has no effect on your character's attributes inside Pilgrim's Traverse.
* Illumed aetherpool gear progress in Pilgrim's Traverse is tracked separately to that of aetherpool gear in other deep dungeons.

Strengthening Illumed Aetherpool Gear

Illumed aetherpool gear can be enhanced by accessing silver coffers. These coffers appear randomly on each floor and after defeating certain enemies. When enhancing gear, there is a chance of failure that varies depending on the current level of your gear and the floor where the silver coffer is found. Illumed aetherpool gear can also be enhanced by defeating boss enemies from stone 30 onwards and by clearing the final area of Pilgrim's Traverse. The maximum strength illumed aetherpool gear can achieve is +99, and attributes will be synced in the event that aetherpool gear strength exceeds the maximum allowed by your current level.

Gear Durability and Spiritbonding

Illumed aetherpool gear is not subject to durability loss, nor can it gain spiritbond when inside Pilgrim's Traverse.
* This also applies to any gear equipped upon entering the instance.

Special Items

Pomanders

Players will, on occasion, obtain pomanders from treasure coffers within Pilgrim's Traverse. These items have various uses ranging from displaying the entire map of your current area, to providing party members with beneficial effects. Up to three of each pomander can be held at any time. These items can be found in a shared inventory to be used by all party members.
* Normal items such as potions can still be used independently of this shared inventory.

Pomanders cannot be taken outside of Pilgrim's Traverse. When in a matched party, they cannot be used after the completion of a set of floors. Pomanders that affect the map cannot be overwritten with the same item when their effect is already in play. Please note, however, that they will still be consumed upon use.
* Some pomanders in Pilgrim's Traverse differ from those found in other deep dungeons.

How to Obtain

Gold coffers dropped by enemies or found in the dungeon may contain pomanders.

Incense

Juniper incense may be obtained from treasure coffers in Pilgrim's Traverse. When burned, it will call the faerie king to assist you in a variety of ways.

Incense cannot be taken outside of the deep dungeon. When in a matched party, it will be reset each time you enter the dungeon.

How to Obtain

There is a small chance to obtain incense when opening silver coffers dropped by enemies or found in the dungeon.

Progression

Advancing through Areas

Areas are generated at random, and players may only progress by locating and activating the Pylon of Passage in each area. These pylons have three phases, and will always be inactive when arriving at a new area. Before the pylon can be fully activated, players must defeat the enemies that appear in the area. As the phases progress, the color of the map icon will change, and the perimeter around the pylon will glow when it becomes fully activated.

Resurrection

In addition to resurrection items and actions, players can use an Altar of Return to raise all KO'd players. These altars, like the Pylon of Passage, have three phases of activation and can only be used when fully activated. The altar will be inactive when arriving at a new area. Players must defeat the enemies that appear in the area before the altar can be fully activated. As the phases progress, the color of the map icon will change, and the altar itself will glow when it becomes fully activated.

Traps and Area Effects

As players progress, they will arrive at areas with traps that will be set off when walked across. These traps are invisible unless a player has a special item which can reveal their locations. In addition to traps, some areas have the below effects which may benefit or provide some challenge to the player's ability to progress:

Status Effects
Some areas may inflict detrimental or beneficial statuses on players.

Prohibited Magic or Special Actions
Some areas may prohibit certain actions.

Area Effect: Gloom
Some areas may have strengthened enemies.

Votive Candelabras

Players may encounter votive candelabras along their journey through Pilgrim's Traverse. Lighting them will activate various effects for the area marked by the next traverse stone.

Navigation Map

A special navigation map will be displayed, which can be used to progress through the rooms in a given area. When any party member enters a room on the area, the map will automatically update. The icons for the Altar of Return and the Pylon of Passage will appear in their location on the map.
* Players can display or hide the map by pressing the M key. This is the same key for the Hold button to lock the map in position.
* The default navigational map will not be displayed in Pilgrim's Traverse.

Treasure Coffers

There are three types of treasure coffers which will randomly appear in the area or after defeating certain enemies. While most of these coffers will give players various benefits, some will have traps, such as surprise enemy attacks.

Gold Coffers
Gold coffers may yield pomanders. The coffer will remain even if these items already exceed the inventory limit.

Silver Coffers
Silver coffers may strengthen aetherpool arms and armor or contain incense. However, there is a possibility that the strengthening effects will not take hold even if players' weapons and gear are not at maximum level. Opening these coffers will have no effect if the players' weapons and gear are at their maximum level of strength. Weapons and armor are strengthened separately, and one or the other will be randomly selected for each player.

Bronze Coffers
Bronze coffers may yield normal items such as potions or fragments of illumed aetherpool glass, which can be exchanged for special items with Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9).

The Accursed Hoard

While exploring Pilgrim's Traverse, players will, on occasion, discover hidden treasure known as the Accursed Hoard. Upon saving progress and exiting Pilgrim's Traverse, players can take this treasure to Tyr Marn in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) to have it appraised and discover what lies within.

Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9)

Tyr Marn

Uncovering the Accursed Hoard

Players must remain stationary at the location where the treasure is hidden for a fixed period of time for the coffer to be uncovered.

Before the Accursed Hoard can be discovered, players must first use the pomander of intuition to reveal its location on the map.

Locating the Accursed Hoard

While a pomander of intuition is in effect, an icon on the navigation map will indicate the presence of a piece of the Accursed Hoard.

Leaving Pilgrim's Traverse

If all party members are KO'd inside Pilgrim's Traverse, they will be removed from the instance.
* Unlike other dungeons, players cannot choose to return to the entrance if they are KO'd.

Save Data

Players can manage their save data by talking with Vanthau located in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0).

Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0)

Resetting Progress

Players can reset their level and progression to traverse stone 1. However, illumed aetherpool arm and armor strength will carry over to the new file. This means players can reset and return to stone 1 to continue strengthening their weapons and gear if they have found that previous progression became too difficult.
* Reset save data cannot be recovered.

Disbanding a Fixed Party

Players can convert fixed party saved data to matched party saved data. Illumed aetherpool arm and armor strength will be carried over, but pomander information will be reset. Under these conditions you will be able to be matched with other players who are currently playing in the same area as you.
* If any members of a fixed party are unable to enter the deep dungeon after the deletion of save data or usage of the Home World transfer service, they must select "Disband your fixed party" to carry over their save data.

Rewards

The following rewards will be given based on the player's level and progress.

If your job or class is level 100 upon entering:

Allagan tomestones and gil will be rewarded based on progress.

If your job or class is between levels 91 and 99 upon entering:

Experience points, gil, and Allagan tomestones of poetics will be rewarded based on progress.
* The Armoury bonus will be applied to these rewards.

If you have progressed beyond stone 30:

A fragment of illumed aetherpool glass will be awarded.
This item can be traded to Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9).

Challenge Log

By completing objectives in the challenge log for Pilgrim's Traverse, players may earn phials of luminous oil and pieces of the Blessed Hoard.

Luminous oil may be traded to Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) for special items.

Pieces of the Blessed Hoard may be appraised by Tyr Marn in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9) to receive items including First Light relics, which may then be traded to Ose Wyd.

Obtaining and Strengthening Aetherpool Weapons

If you have strengthened your illumed aetherpool arm and illumed aetherpool armor to +10 in addition to clearing the sidequest "Faerie Tale," you can receive an illumed aetherpool grip, which can be used to exchange for a weapon of your choosing by speaking with Ose Wyd in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:5.9). Please note that by receiving an illumed aetherpool grip, the strength of your illumed aetherpool arm and armor used in Pilgrim's Traverse will be reduced by 10.

Upon clearing stone 100, and having reached +60 or higher in aetherpool gear strength, you may further exchange illumed aetherpool grips to enhance a previously acquired weapon from Pilgrim's Traverse.

Scores

When challenging certain areas or when the entire party is KO'd, players will receive a score based on a number of factors such as furthest stone reached and number of enemies slain. Separate scores for both solo and party play will be assigned after being defeated or clearing certain areas. High scores can be confirmed by speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0).
* High scores are only updated for ventures undertaken on your Home World. Ventures undertaken while using the World Visit or Data Center Travel systems will not be counted.

These scores may also appear on the Lodestone. The rankings page will be updated daily, so we encourage you to brave the ever-changing corridors of the dungeon, and prove yourself the realm's greatest pathfinder!

The Final Verse

The Final Verse is a practice duty that pits a party of up to four players against a simulacrum of Eminent Grief.

Invoking the Final Verse

After reaching stone 99 of Pilgrim's Traverse, players may speak with Vanthau in Il Mheg to challenge this duty with a fixed or matched party. When entering with a matched party, aetherpool gear strength must be +94 or above.
* When registering as a party, all members must be in Il Mheg.
* Players may register with a cross-world party.

Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0)

Vanthau

Difficulty Level

The boss summoned by invoking the Final Verse is a perfect replica of the fiend lurking beyond traverse stone 99. By practicing against this simulacrum, players will become better equipped to overcome Eminent Grief within Pilgrim's Traverse.

Rewards

Upon victory, a treasure coffer will appear. All party members may receive rewards upon opening this treasure coffer.

The Final Verse (Quantum)

The Final Verse (Quantum) is a challenging, independent duty that incorporates a special type of difficulty scaling into the boss battle fought at stone 99.

Invoking the Final Verse (Quantum)

Players may register for this duty by speaking with Vanthau in Il Mheg after clearing stone 100 of Pilgrim's Traverse and completing the subsequent sidequest.
Once the party leader speaks with Vanthau and selects "Invoke the Final Verse (Quantum)," they will be prompted to select sacramental offerings with which to summon Eminent Grief. At least 15 of these special items are required to enter this duty.
* All party members must be in Il Mheg to register for this duty.
* Players may register with a cross-world party.

Il Mheg (X:29.9 Y:6.0)

Vanthau

Sacramental Offerings

Five types of items may serve as offerings when invoking the Final Verse (Quantum): sacramental spirits, sacramental spices, sacramental grain, sacramental light, and sacramental lilies. These items may occasionally be obtained by appraising pieces of the Accursed Hoard discovered within Pilgrim's Traverse.

Difficulty Level

In principle, summoning Eminent Grief with a greater number of offerings will result in a stronger incarnation. The type and number of offerings selected may also affect boss behavior, statuses, and a variety of other factors, thus altering the difficulty of the Final Verse (Quantum) in unexpected ways.

Rewards

Upon victory, a treasure coffer will appear that can only be opened by the player who selected the offerings required to enter the duty.
Sacramental offerings will be expended upon opening this coffer.

Rewards are proportionate to the number of offerings used, and the player who selected the offerings will receive more rewards than other players.
